Hi, I'm new here and will type in some information in the "introduce yourself" area. But I found this forum and new I may be able to get answers here. I have cronic pain, I've had MRI's taken for year and have two degenerated discs in my lower back. Now they are all that bad, but I have very bad pain at times and it keeps me from enjoying life like I used to. I am unemployed now and because I'm a veteran I have to go to the VA. My dr has done an MRI a couple years ago and so the degeneration, he has had me on hydrocodone 5/325 for 2 years. But he has never increased the dosage for me or given me anything stronger when I have requested it. Well about 4 months ago he ordered a new MRI, and it came back clean, as in, there is no problem in my back. Now my dr is acting like I'm am just trying to score drugs. It got so bad I asked and received a new primary, but my new primary and the old dr (actually physician's assistant) "consulted" and now my new PA will not give me hydrocodone any longer. Yes of course, at times I abused them for the buzz, but I do need them. I go to someone inside the VA for skeletal pain, and nerve pain, they agree that I have pain. Also my physical therapist knows I'm in pain. But the PA still acts like I'm lying to him and I'm just a druggy. What would you do in my situation? Thanks
You can't get the doctor you see for skeletal/nerve pain to give you anything?! I completely feel for you and completely understand where your coming from, I am only 29 years old but have rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative disk disease in my back, a plate and 8 screws in one bone a plate and 6 in the other bone in my right ankle extreme migraines, EXTREME anemia (to the point of causing seizures i know this has nothing to do with pain but just telling you what's wrong with me) and because I am only 29 years old a lot of doctors have told me they can't help me because of my age, but that's rediculas I just want to live a life without being in constant pain, and be able to take care of my 8 year old son I am not trying to abuse them or anything I mean an occasional buzz but just 2-3 a day to live a normal life but they have told me if I was older they would absolutely help me but not since I'm young. I think that's wrong! so I f
You might have better luck having your doc transfer your info to a 'pain clinic'. That way you pain alone can be looked into. It makes it the only place you can get opiate based pain pills, But you can tell them what you want to an extent. It sucks having to go here and there, But if they can help you might be worth it. I raced motocross for years and have broke alot of bones and have alot of hardware in my body and i dont put up with a Dr's shit. I tell them what makes me feel comfortable and wont settle for anything less. I used to eat 20+ of them a day and quit cold turkey a couple years ago but still get my meds. All i did was go to google and searched "patient rights' and did alot of reading. A doctor is supposed to help you, If the pills help and no past abuse of them or 'I lost or dropped it' BS excuse in your history, You have the right to be prescribed them. Thats when doctors get pissy and might discharge you. Thats fine, Go with the flow and tell each new how bad the last one treated you and you have been on X for X number of years no problems, And now all the sudden there is a problem? I dont put up with dumb fucks, I dont care if they have a piece of paper or not. I know how my body works and feels, Until the doctors can walk in my steps, Their opinion is shit when i have my medical records in hand from all my trauma. IMO, Id look into your rights and a pain clinic. Go to your doctor and tell them how it is, If they dont like it have them refer you to a clinic of your choice or if you have a choice. Your doctor must have his ass on a list of drug pushers because back injurys dont just cure themselves even more so a disc is gone but comes back? LMFAO What a quack doctor(s) you have to deal with. Hope you can get somthing done to help ya, And they wonder why drugs are easier bought on the street, Because they are there for a pay check and your a number to them. Good luck either way
Fucking deal. Everybody has body pains to some variable degree. Learn to deal with it. Popping pills is not your cure, ya addict.
i also have no sympathy due to the part where you said "Yes of course, at times I abused them for the buzz" youre ruining it for the rest of us who actually need it i like your doctor
