According to that graph, it's only just gotten slightly harder, at this moment...

However, we've just gotten to the point where the price, relative to other currencies, will start to really take off.

I want me some 5 dollar bitcoins.

It's legit. Have you heard of bitcoin mining? I' not 100% sure how it works as it's very technical, but you use your GPU to solve complex problems. Once solved you have a chance to get bitcoins. It's sort of like a lottery. It's not very efficient for a normal person to do this, so people group up and pool their resources together and "split" the winnings depending on the amount of work each person in the group did.

I tried my hand at mining and made about $10 in a month. It's very GPU intensive so the better your graphics card the more money you'll make. AMD cards work much better than Nvidia. You can buy an AMD card for about ~$130 that mines at ~300 Mhash/s. Using a mining calculator, you should expect for that card to pay for itself in roughly 3 months of mining (not factoring in electricity costs). Some people take mining very seriously, making a good living off it. I've seen video on youtube of miners who make thousands of dollars a day (again, before electricty costs).

Mining isn't worth it unless you want to invest a good chunk of money into a machine dedicated to it. The best way to make money is simply buy low sell high. I've made decent money doing that :)

You still may have the chance. I have heard rumors a bitcoin will be worth allot more then it is now. The problem is it is no longer a currency without the traditional elite banking structure involved. With the bust of silk road the US government now has more bitcoins then anyone in circulation. I am convinced this was 1/2 the reason the bust went down. Banking is control, those with it need to ensure they keep it. Who owns the USA? The federal reserve, they will not allow us to have "money" without their hand in it. Basically banks are losing a fortune because no one has to pay transfer fees with the bitcoin. And since there will only ever be a set number of Bitcoin holding allot of them will always mean something. Unlike paper money you can not print more and devalue what there already is.

Anyone who thinks bitcoin is going to survive the collapse of governments and economies is living in dreamland. Yes, governments and banks have corruption, yes debt based economies are a bad idea. What's even worse than all that? A destruction based parasite lottery currency. That's all bitcoin ever will be, until the greed driven miners are finished with it and then it will be nothing. Just another unsustainable resource killing greed driven disaster in the history books of idiot kind.

Buy low, sell high, right? How's getting rich for nothing at all going to hurt anyone? Right? Same old greedy way of thinking as debt currency. Your greed is literally robbing real resources from our future. Please invest your life's savings if you think this is a good thing. I'll be here when it's all gone!
