So seeing as Easter is coming up a lot of cakes and sweets were on sell. Of course me being the 4 year old I am at heart had to get some sweets. I wanted to making something Easter but all the egg's and bunny cakes and cupcakes were boring to me. So after a little thinking I decided to make some Yoshi Easter eggs.

In all I made 20 eggs and 3 yoshi. There red velvet with cream cheese frosting. I know there not the best but they were lots of fun to make. ^-^

Any thoughts on what your doing for Easter?

We're going to do something for my son this year.

I'll probably get that big chocolate bunny that takes about 2 days to eat. I'm also going to get him a kite for his Easter basket. I'm not really religious, but it's for the boy. My girl wants us to attend a church service. I'm an atheist and she's baptist. We've decided to not shove anything (religious wise) down his throat, let him experience it then let him come to his own conclusions as he gets older.

I always associate Easter with flying kites and chocolate because I always got them in my Easter basket. As I got older and more jaded my parents always put 20 dollars in a colored plastic egg and hid them in the WORST places. Under dog poop, On the roof of the house... One year they put mine in the nest of the geese we kept at the time! They were fucking mean! My parents were hooting and laughing that year as the 3 geese started chasing me through the yard thinking I stole one of their eggs!

    I love easter. :)

That sounds pretty fun. Im not religious either. Im pretty happy my parents never made me go when I was a kid. My parents both have there own beliefs but they never made me pick witch looking back im glad because When I told them I was gay and that I had a tattoo, plus other things over the years, there wasn't as much fear compared to when I told my very religious aunt and my uncle who is a pastor. But funny thing is im still going to church this Sunday. Mostly just to see my family and to help out because there's a party for the kids and my aunt needs help to set up.
I remember when I was a kid my parents would hid Easter eggs around the yard but they would also hid our baskets. That was the big thing that I loved as a kid. It was also fun to run around the house and try to find my basket. My parents would put 3 things in our baskets each year. A big candy, a toy (often lego's or paint) and a book. My faviote thing was the book.

    Yeah a book. That's a good idea.

I'll probably make a trail of M&Ms to his basket. He's been talking about the Easter bunny for a week now and he's pretty pumped. I'm 30 and it's hard to get into character for all the make believe fun. It does give me a chance to be a kid again though. I figured out young there was no such thing as the Easter bunny. After the Tooth Fairy he's the next to go.

He's such an good kid. I feel blessed to be his father.

As long as I believed I got more presents Glen.

With the cold hard facts staring me in the face I refused to let it go. With my tenth christmas the last present I got from good ol Saint Nick was a BB gun... then shit got real.

When I was a kid my mom would have me play this game once every morning we had to tell a story of something impossible that could happen that day. We weren't aloud to leave the table until we did. I would come up with things as far out as meeting pirates or flying with dragons. As I got older my older brother stopped playing . I asked him why and he said that there was no such thing as Santa or the Easter bunny and that there was no point to play make believe. The next morning when we played the game I was really upset. I remember my Dad said to me Nothing is real, unless you choice to believe. I knew Santa wasn't real. I knew the Easter bunny was fake. I was only 6 but I knew that a lot of the books and fairy tales were just stories. But I asked my dad what he meant and he said. I choice every morning to get up and get out of bed because of the belief that something will happen or I had something to do. I can choice to believe whatever I want but for anything to happen I had to first believe.

Its sounds silly but I based a lot of what I do on that saying "Nothing is real, until you choice to believe." Even now that im older and my family doesn't play that game I still do to myself every morning in bed. Before I even get up I just lay there thinking of something crazy that could happen during the day.

I don't think its a matter of how old you are or if your a kid or not. I think at some point people pick to stop believing and that is sad. I know that Santa isn't real or that the Easter bunny not there. But I like to think sometimes that they are. Every time a sock goes missing I like to pretend a goblin came out from my dryer and stole it. And when there is a bump at night I pretend the ghost are having a party and dancing. Sure its immature and silly but I smile more then any one else I know.

I will probably be driving my Dad to church. I will sit in in the car until mass is over. Then we will go out to breakfast.

I don't go to church. He wants to go to the 7 am. service and the person who normally takes him is going to a later mass.

What a really nice thread. :)

My two are young adults now but the bunny still shows up. So they will have their hunt and baskets and chocolate fix. I am no more willing than they are to let go of that tradition.

I never did a lot of traditional religion with them but when they were younger we did couloured hard boiled eggs and they would roll them against the bottom step of the stairs to crack them. It was to signify the opening of the tomb and the rolling away of the boulder.

I will be hosting dinner for the family so it will be busy but fun. :)

I drive Dad everywhere he needs to go and see him almost daily. To be perfectly honest he is probably sick of seeing me hovering. It is nice for him to do some things on his own without me there.

    Those cupcakes are so cute!

We're going with my in-laws to my sister-in-law's house 6 hours away for Easter. It's my tiny niece's first Easter so I'm excited to get to go down there. I think tonight I'm going to make some peanut butter cookies to take with us. I wish I had thought to make Chex Mix for the ride down before today, but ah, such is life.

I guess technically on Easter, we'll be on the road home, but I guess Saturday we'll do Easter-y things. Niece is too little to really egg hunt or have much fun this Easter, but I'm really looking forward to getting to spend some time with her.

I love the holidays for the fact it gives you a good reason to see a lot of family. I love seeing my family though its funny. I know by the end of the day I will be sick of all them and want to leave im always happy at the idea of going to see them. I love them but they do drive me crazy.

I'm going to make carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese icing, and I have a recipe for peanut butter eggs that claim to taste like Reese's, we'll see if they do.

I am also cooking a turkey. No coloured eggs this year, though, they are a pain in the ass and no one here eats them.

I got the kids some peeps, a hollow chocolate egg, and foil covered chocolate eggs to hunt for. The baby gets to do the hunting, but the older kids still demanded chocolate.
