I heard the most unbelievable thing today

A lady that was riding my transit bus today made a comment that I feel is totally uncalled for. She said that the thousands of people that were killed in Asia won't be missed. She claimed that "they" (meaning the people killed) were already remade and that they weren't worth that much anyway.(Like they were cloned or that all Asians do is make unwanted people.) She also said that those people don't respect women and girls so it wasn't much of a loss.
The more she spoke the less I could take it. I finally had to stick my arm out to my friend that was next to her and indicate that I didn't want to talk about this subject anymore.(The lady actually made me physically ill.) Sheeesh, don't you hate people like that?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Afterall, where would I get my cheap electronic equipment if it weren't for the Asian people?

Yeah, they have no respect for women at all... Wait, we're the ones who have never had a female president (Sri Lanka has a woman president now, & wasn't Ghandi's daughter the first president of India after it won independence?)... Hmmmm....

 

You can't help it. No matter where you go, it seems there will always be somebody who's super ignorant that has to speak on a subject and say things that are uncalled for. Don't let it upset you. You should have just stared at her like she was crazy. Or lied and told her that you had family there. Something that would have made her feel like the ass she is.
There's always an insensitive jerk somewhere, and there's no point arguing with them. She may feel like that now, but what goes around comes around. Who knows, what if something like that happened here? She'll get hers.

She was perfectly logical (in a heartless fascist way) but even more perfectly disgusting. She could have been one of the tourists that got killed, lack of empathy is to me the main reason to ever think less of another human being.

And also: I heard that the women and the children had the hardest time of surviving the Tsunami and they will probably also suffer the most from the diseases that will follow in the wake of this disaster, (Malaria, lack of fresh water etc).
