I think neil young is a spectacular lyricist and guitar player!

 

I generally hear people speak very highly about his music and career so I guess definately not underrated.

 

Overrated

 

Neil Young has always struck me as a tad bit overrated. I like a lot of his work, though.

 

I'm sure his mom likes him. I would say he is rated sufficiently of course everyone cares for their own opinion. I don't care to be irate about it but I like his music.

 

Love his lyrics but like dylan, everyone that covers him sounds better than the original. His guitar 'solo's' make me want to run and hide.

 

It depends on what album you listen to.

 

He's pretty skilled and can shred for an old man, the only thing that sucks is that every time he is in town, ticket prices can get up to over $600 or more.....really? yikes. Love me some Neil though.

 

the term overrated should only be used for artists that everyone (even very casual music listeners) knows but who hardly have any talent.

Neil Young is a fantastic songwriter and a more than capable guitar player,I even like his singing.
the only critisism that i can come up with is that for every great song he also recorded a horrible one.

 

Neil in a prog rock thread? Weird!!! Anyway, he IS a wee little overrated, yes!!!!
