I am offended every time I hear the word "junk" referring to male genitalia. Am I the only one? Since the word "junk" actually means "things that are considered worthless or of little value", it seems to me to be terribly inappropriate and promotes a feeling of shame. There is a podcast called "Sex Is Fun" that I stopped listening to because the guy said "junk" all the time. I emailed him and asked him to stop, but he didn't.
I don't know if you're the only one, but I certainly don't find it offensive. I don't remember the last time I've even used the word though, or heard it used.
I don't find it offensive, but I do find it really silly (and irritating). I can certainly see your point.
Doesn't bother me, but I prefer referring to it as "my package" as it has a more positive and promising spin to it... As in "Coming through! Got a package, People!"
i don't have an issue with it. most, if not all slang words have meanings different from the word's "actual" meaning.
I can't say I've ever heard any form of genitalia being referred to as 'junk' - or if I did it probably wouldn't have registered as I find most basic slang terminology as basic, lacking in respect & often indicative of overall ignorance.
"... the earliest reference for junk as a body part appears to be 1986, when a writer named Ethan Mordden used the term in a story called “Buddies,” in which one character threatened to drag another “outside and kick your junk in.” " Package is a way better word.
I think the word junk is pretty funny. Maude Lebowski: Yes, they don't like hearing it and find it difficult to say whereas without batting an eye a man will refer to his dick or his rod or his Johnson. The Dude: Johnson?
I think the term 'junk' refers not just to the shaft, but the genitalia as a whole (cock and balls) for which, oddly, there's not that many synonyms, though there's a million alternatives for dick.
I don't find it offensive but I agree with other responders to this thread who think it is silly and I don't think it's the best term for it.
soon we won't be able to talk at all because someone finds it offensive and your 60 years old maybe your junk will be useless soon:smilielol5:
I with the original poster. Yeah, I find the word "junk" offensive. Not sure why, other than it seems like a demeaning term. I know one guy who refers to his as "John Henry." Another buddy calls his, "The Monster." (Note: It's not.) More than one has called mine, Mr. Bighead. I sure don't see that but since different peeps have said it, I'll take the compliment. I've seen guys with Bigheads, I'm not one of them.
I'll have to agree with you, on that. It also depends on how the word is used. Two Examples: There was a perv in the park the other day showing his junk. (OK use of word) He went to Wreck Beach and had his Junk hanging out all day (Not OK use of word)
