You honestly don't see what I mean?

You are dominating and guiding the conversation. You are not giving people room to discuss on their own; the responses are exclusively your thoughts and others' reflections (and refractions) of those thoughts.

Which is no fun for people who like the subject you proposed, but aren't liking you very much.

    Exactly.

If you have anything to say, he tells you that you couldn't possibly know because you're not him, and you where not in his one situation.

Looks like he found some assholes who had a commune and used them as the face for the flower power movement.

And when I told him that, he said something about how you define hippies.... so basically, said that they WHERE in fact hippies.

And then, in the next paragraph, told me that he didn't understand how flower power could betray gays and women, because it never had allegiance to them.... which seems to undermine the whole premise of his own thread.

I don't give a stuff if posters here do, or don't, 'like me very much'. Efforts put into gaining popularity on forums is just another form of ad hominem argument dressed up as pseudo pleasantry.
Not to worry, I'll leave all you people to love each other unconditionally without my noxious interference.
    Have fun kiddies.

You have made a fool of yourself and are ducking out, not bowing out, because you don't know how to admit that you have an indefensible position.

As far as the arguing goes....

It has nothing to do with liking you or not liking you, I'm talking about things that you have said -- it's a disingenuous logical fallacy to associate people stomping your ass into the ground in any particular argument, with people liking or not liking you. Gaining popularity is not done by winning arguments, or by arguing with a silly position that frustrates people without your own handicap in the logical arts. There is nothing ad hominem about gaining popularity, ad hominem refers to a type of argument, and even if it was ad hominem, there is no way it would or even could be dressed up as a pseudo pleasantry -- and if it could be, that would still be a double negative, meaning that it would be a fake fake. Noxious means poisonous or toxic, especially in the sense of harmful fumes or highly unpleasant smells -- while this description is not entirely incompatible with your presence here, it's self-deprecating nature leads me to think that you did not understand the meaning of what you wrote.

All in all, you have mostly made a very serious argument for the improvement of the Australian grade school system, though given your age and the severity of the problem, I do hope that the issue has been noticed and addressed by now, and today's students have more reasonable levels of proficiency in rhetoric and critical thinking.
