...and i there has I missed it. I don't know if many of you have heard about the Applebee's thing, but some people are making a huge deal. Yeah, that guest was a bitch for the comment she left. Honestly, if a guest had said that to one of my servers, I'd ask her not to return to my restaurant. Unless my server has disrespected you, I'd be damned if you showed such utter disrespect for them. BUT, just because that girl was a jackass does NOT mean that the server should get away with what she did. She broke a company policy that she was informed of upon accepting the job, which was handled accordingly. Yeah she was just trying to be funny and may have meant no harm, but she broke policy. The note wasn't even left for her and the other server still got tipped. There are plenty of places similar to and better than Applebee's, the girl will get another job. I'm not joining any boycotts because I've never been impressed with their food in the first place, so their PR nightmare has only further convinced me to continue not eating there. -_- http://rlstollar.wordpress.com/2013...own-a-photo-essay/comment-page-2/#comment-208
that's pretty funny. i had heard about the original incident, but i didn't know all this shit had happened since. i have no idea why people started attacking applebee's in the first place; the girl would have gotten fired for that no matter where she worked. although on the other hand, i still support her decision to give up her job to embarrass that pastor ****. but it's just hilarious how horribly applebees handled the aftermath.
People who eat toxic Applebee's food have worse things to worry about. You might as well just eat McDonald's.
The PR nightmare that happened on their facebook page was too funny. The more the night-shift media guy posted, the worse things got.
And right directly after they fired her, they posted a positive review on a receipt, also signed, on their Facebook, doing exactly the thing she was fired for.
I never liked Applebee's anyway, but the way they handled all that made me want to avoid eating there even more, how unprofessional. And yeah, they posted stuff too, but I think it's because it's their stuff so they can. I may be wrong, but I think their rule states that if they want to post something, they have to have Applebee's okay.
Which is actually something many businesses are adopting lately. They are changing their policies so that employees and for anyone to be considered for a job must provide their Facebook and other social networking information so that the company can make sure the employees are not trash-mouthing the company online, etc. It is a gross infringement on freedom of speech.
I've never eaten at Applebees. I agree with undies, the girl would have been fired no matter where she worked, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. And the pastor was a bitch. Someone should educate her on how much less servers get paid compared to everyone else, and are expected to live on their tips. And don't shove god down other people's throats, you give 10% to your church, not god. Deities have no use for money, as I understand it. That was me with the thumbs down, my daughter kicked my arm.
Haha, thanks for the explanation, I was really wondering who thumbed that down and then didn't even offer a reason why. And it's funny that Rat said the McDonald's thing (missed that the first go-round) because the closest Applebee's to me has a McDonald's on one side and a Wendy's on the other. And a Taco Villa a block away. I don't ever pick Applebee's. But it's not really because I give a shit about how bad or good it is for me (obviously, since I have no problem visiting the surrounding restaurants), it's because Applebee's is bland and there are other chain restaurants that serve the same stuff with flavor.
yeah, it's not like there's a law against posting that stuff (as far as i know). she got fired because disrespecting and publicly embarrassing customers is bad for business. the fact that applebees had just done the same thing just makes them look hypocritical. it is kind of the same situation, but not really since the thing applebees posted would only humiliate the customer if said customer was embarrassed to eat at applebees. in which case they probably wouldn't have left a signed letter praising the establishment. besides, it's a completely false comparison. it would only be a fair statement if she gave 10% of her applebees bill to god, or was expected to give 18% of her total income to the waitress. just because both are percentage based does not mean they are the same thing.
But she said she gives to god, shouldn't that shame everyone who expects to be paid for their services into working for free?
