There are certain standards a whey protein powder must meet for me to even consider using it. For one, it must be whey sourced from grass-fed cows. Secondly, it cannot contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose. Finally, it must be whey protein concentrate -- never isolate, which is horrible stuff and should not be consumed by anyone. The two protein powders I have been using are Dr. Mercola's 'Miracle Whey', and Source Naturals' 'True Whey'. I have found both of these to be superior in both the quality of ingredients and flavor. Both are very expensive, however. A 1 lb. container of Miracle Whey costs over $30, but only has 11 servings per container. It gets costly quick. I have been looking for something a bit cheaper, which comes close in quality, but have not had much luck. It amazes me how many different whey protein powders are on the market, yet so many of them are made with inferior quality ingredients which do more harm to the body than good.
Can I ask why Isolates are bad?? I currently am using a whey isolate and I love it..but honestly I never researched...it was recommended by a friend I was working out with and it was yummy so I've stuck with it. I need something that I can just mix with water and drink quickly on the way to the gym. I like that its not "thick"...other whey proteins I've tried I can have in a shake mixed with other stuff but they are gross if mixed with just water. Any recommendation?
jesus fucking christ rat stop being a picky patricia. some good options are gold standard 100% whey, gaspari nutrition, and trutein. Don't get all political about this. And please don't tell us you wan't it to build muscle, if thats the case, dont bother buying any.
Great question, Sassy. Isolates are proteins stripped away from their natural cofactors. The problem with isolates is that they're heavily processed, and your body cannot assimilate proteins in isolated form. Because they are over-processed, they are also deficient in key amino acids and nutrients.
Because drinking a protein shake doesnt build muscle. Lifting heavy weights and eating in a caloric surplus is what builds muscle. Protein shakes are used for muscle recovery, and are also used to get enough protein in for the day if you cant get it all through food. Just like you say everything else in this world is a scam, this can be considered one as well, how the companys market this stuff saying things like if you want to build huge veiny muscles buy our protein!!
I think bodybuilding is gay. I am not into that. I want only to be lean and have a good amount of muscle mass, but in no way do I want to become some muscle man. No way! Also, whey protein isn't only for building muscle. Of course drinking protein shakes alone isn't going to give you muscle. I mean, no shit, Sherlock. But there are other ways of building muscle, like through interval training and exercises that target the core. I do some intense cardio and core exercises everyday. That, on top of 300-400 pushups and crunches. Are you under the impression that I am a runt or something?
you couldnt build muscle mass if you tried lol. You want to be lean and also have muscle mass?? Rat im sorry but you really don't know what you are talking about. Just because you lift weights you dont have to be considered a 'bodybuilder' I've sent you private messages before about this stuff but you really dont get it. If you would like I can give you my phone number and explain all this to you over the phone which I think would be easier. Im sorry dude but ur not gonna get big if you dont lift weights like bench pressing, deadlifting, squatting etc..
Well, one things for sure, when you take protein powder, you make alot of ejaculate. My wife loves that........the volume increases along with lifting heavy deadweights and looking more buff.........lol, nice side effects from protein powder. Just my two cents.:2thumbsup:
lol, I like her tuna very much and she loves my extra supplement of protein for her diet. Tit for tat. Tuna for splat !!!! lol:2thumbsup:
