Hi, My name is Laura-rose and I'm new here. Its 1.30am and my mind is over-flowing with questions, ideas and frustrations about the world. My head does this sometimes..and when it does sleep is impossible. So.. I decided to try and find somewhere I could chat with others- I've been wanting to find people with similar views to me for a while. I'm not a 'hippie' as such, rather I'd not label myself as anything. I am me, and that's all there is to it. I like reading, horse riding, thinking, dancing, music. What really frustrates me is modern day society. The country is in a shite state of affairs to be completely honest. Exploitation is greatly smokescreened. We are under a false economy, lining the pockets of politicians who repay society by brainwashing us into a set of capitalist values and produce selfish, narrow-minded sheep who follow anything anyone with any precedence above them preaches. Alcohol consumption is seen as completely acceptable, and drinking excessively to the point where you are becoming violent and endangering yourself/others around you is humorous to many. The government pull statistics from up their arse about how many 'units' are healthy, when it's been noted that no scientific evidence strongly supports this. - Money makers. Yet, people who engage in the odd bout of recreational drug use, harming no one, are classed as 'junkies' and failures. Surely if someone who drug uses now and again is classed in the same band as an addict then a drinker who has a weekend of excessive drinking should be in the same class as an alcoholic? Yet, the big men say that drinking is ok, so everyone follows suit.. and re enforces the governments values. I feel like I'm not making sense, in fact I'm probably not. Its 2am and my mind is gone. I'm also big on animal welfare, that's a whole different ball game. Why are we as a species so important than anything else? The human mind's strength and potential has been grossly misused and abused. Materialism has turned us into selfish consumers. Everyone is out for themselves, no sacrifices made for others. No love. People are judged for their sexuality and class, not who they are as a person. ~We have planted the seeds for our own destruction~ Look forward to hearing from anyone with an open mind, I'm willing to discuss anything. Time for some smoke, unlock my mind.
