Wow, I read all the posts, and there were some very interesting ones. LIKE ZOINKS was the most surprising. 17 years old, and four of his top five were done being bands before he was born. The most listed were Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Beatles. They were my favorites back in the day, but I've evolved with the times. 1. Umphrey's Mcgee- phenomenal 2. Widespread Panic- #1 before I heard Ump 3. Drive By truckers- great beer drinking music 4. String Cheese Incident- great pot smoking and tripping music 5. Gov't Mule- Rock it! 6. Greg Brown- not a band, just the best folk 7. Railroad Earth- my favorite bluegrass 8. Screamin Cheetah Wheelies- sadly disbanded already, still great blues 9. G3- Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, a one time thing, but hey 10. Jeff Beck- pretty damn good for 70 years old Man that was hard. Honorable mentions, North Mississippi Allstars, Moe, Yonder Mountain, Dave Matthews, Little Feat, Robert Randolf and the Family Band, Joan Armatrading,...and from back in the day, Zappa, Deep Purple, Santana, Savoy Brown, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Pure Prairie League, Canned Heat, The Animals, CSN&Y, Dylan, Traffic, Van Morrison, The Yardbirds, Gypsy, Traveling Wilbury's, ZZ top, Old and in the Way, Jefferson Airplane,Bruce Hornsby and the Range, Bruce Cockburn, I even liked the Beatles and the Monkeys in the 60's and 70's. And I wanted to be like Elvis in the 50's. Jerry Lee Lewis was my first concert. And I could go back even farther to Cab Calloway and Bob Wills. But I don't think I saw the Stones mentioned. I never dug their stuff after Monterey. That was too weird. As the bumper sticker says, "I may be old, but I did get to see all the great bands.":guitarist:
