Which is a better way to express oneself: painting or photography?

I've been doing both for some time now, and I just can't decide which reflects my personality better...

    Anyway, what do you think?

it totally depends on the person

    painters create paintings

photographers create pictures (they dont take them, they make them)

personally i love photograhpy, im not much of a painter

I'm addicted to photography and a wanna-be professional photographer, so I could say that photography's better. But I love all kind of art, and I paint too, so...I don't know, it's very subjective. Why not both? Art has no limits!:)

it dont really matter altho, you can only capture already what is there in form on a camra, and when a painting happens its all up to you... so in that sence painting can express oneself more... your painting would reflect you if you go strictly on emotional drawing or what interest you... if you see other art and get ideas and shit like that... its not really a reflection of onseself... you should check out my art sometime, it will give you a idea of how i use interest (like dreadlocks and elfish people) to express my childlike side, and i draw emotional drawings that strongly show my depressed state of mind.

Not always, it depends on the kind of photography you do. I created most of the photos I took myself...the scenography, the pose, the lighting, etc. And don't forget that photography makes you see the world rather than just look at it, so every good photographer doesn't just click the shutter...he/she sees something that others just don't see, and chooses the best lighting, the best composition, adjusts ISO speed, shutter speed and F number...he/she doesn't take a photo, he/she makes it.:)

I think it totally depends on the person.
I let myself out in every cretive way i can... it keeps me sane.
Photography is just as much an expression of self as paint because of angle, focus, lense and camera choice, place, context etc etc

I would say Photography was my favorite form of art, and the first one I took seriously. I guess you could say I focus most of my attention on it more than any other art. I've just recently picked up drawing and painting and even graphics in the past 6-8 months, While I've been taking photo classes since 11th grade. Although I've only taken 3 classes, I still have motivated myself to go shoot rolls for fun.

But when I took my painting foundation class, The way I look at paintings changed. Actually I pay attention to real life color values differently. I love how with painting you start out with a blank canvas where even the laws of nature dont apply. But at the same time it's amazing how a b&w picture (with the right kinda dramatic lighting) can dietize even the most ordinary inanimate object.

I can't decide which one I like more, I guess Photo just cause I'm more familar with it. I also can't decide on whether I want to marry a painter or photographer ;)
