Thank you for sharing. You are correct. They are frelling nuts. Especially, in relation to the fact mentioned in the documentary that they shape politics with their activism. There should be a separation of church and state in that regard, yet these nuts seem to believe that they are the only ones who deserve any sort of freedom in this country. It is a sad affair when someone is deluded to the point where differences are not celebrated but regarded as abnormal.

These fundamentalists are the reason I despise religion. I realize that not all religious people are like them, which is why I did use the term fundamentalist, and I have been informed that I should not hate the religion due to a few bad people who give it a bad name. However, religion itself has been proven again and again to cause real harm to real people in this world. I wholeheartedly believe that the world would be a better place without the Judeo-Christian religions tarnishing our society.

I do believe in God. I just don't care for "organized religion". Especially the brand of it these bigoted nuts spew at the pulpit every Sunday morning. The part of this doc that really get's to me is the part with the gay guy that used to be Jerry Falwell's ghost writer. The other thing that got to me was the whole "megachurches" thing. It doesn't strike me as the kind of thing Jesus would do. That's not to mention the hypocracy. This bit from Bill Maher is fuckin' hilarious though.

That is certainly a good distinction. I have no problems with spiritual individuals who keep their beliefs mainly to themselves or others of the same faith. When they begin to proselytize, that is when the problems arise. It does seem that when you get a huge group of believers together, however, that they begin thinking that others must believe as they do, and that is one huge downfall of such mega churches.
