Barefoot in Amsterdam

  1. Any Euro barefooters who have experience barefooting in Amsterdam---streets, museums, shops, restaurants, gardens? Am thinking about going in April---tooling around the tulips barefoot sounds nice...but I dunno...:daisy:

I have travelled there a few times now, I have friends and family who live in the area. Barefoot has never been a problem in my experience it has always been a relaxed place to be :)

Super easy going barefoot in Amsterdam. Lots of fun renting a houseboat to stay in. Have some red lebanese for me.

You shouldn't have any problems. But in April the weather might be still pretty chilly there.

If you go there end f the month you have the chance to witness the Queen's day (biggest Amsterdam holiday beside the Gay Pride) - and this year including the enthroning of the new king ;-) You can bring your things and sell them on the flea market, all income is tax-free on this day ;-)

  5. Your answers have been winningly reassuring. This would be my second bared-soled trod through Europe. How wonderful to travel barefoot....

I live not far from Amsterdam and never had any problems visiting the city barefoot.
    Enjoy

I was in Amsterdam for New Years Eve a couple years ago. I was still wide awake after all my friends passed out around 2am so I went out for a barefoot walk alone. The streets were heavily littered with trash and lots (I mean LOTS!!) of broken glass from beer and champaign bottles, plus lots of debris from fireworks. I walked around barefoot for a couple hours, going into a couple bars for a Heineken, then went back to the hotel. I got several odd looks, but no cuts. The only reason I thought to consider walking barefoot with all the glass around was that I already had blisters from wearing shoes all day earlier.
