Someone phoned in on a radio talk show a while back on a related topic. They claimed that the secret to a healthy vegan diet if you are interested in keeping fit/developing body mass is in three things- garden peas, rice protein and hemp. Whether you are interested in getting muscles or just having more stamina I'd say those are three very healthy things to eat. I find that making a large pot of home made soup at least once a week helps, something with lentils or pulses in it is good. Eat it throughout the week as part of your staple diet and for extra goodness why not buy a bottle of pure hemp oil and pour a drop in after you heat it, and stir it in. It's expensive but a small drop on your food each day goes a long way. It doesn't taste so good on it's own, but added in small quantities to other hot food it can add a complimentary earthy taste to it. I know what it is like living in manchester, and when it's raining all the time. It can make you feel very run down, especially if you are working/drinking in pubs 18 hours a day (which I did)
