I am sure some of you have seen this list, and I will not deny that a lot of the songs on that list are great. I just have to disagree with the order they put these songs in. What do you guys think? And what are your favourite ten songs???
Meh, I hate lists like that... I mean, come on. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" is certainly not the second greatest song of all time. They need to get serious for a change.
i think it's long been an established fact that any "top 10/100/500" anything lists are terrible and highly controversial. and that's the purpose, they want to stir things up a bit. and rolling stone has never been a very good magazine, though they have done a few good things.
The Stones are amazing and it is not right to try to say what are their best songs etc. That said (LOL) I will say their best song is "Wild Horses", I don't think even the Beatles came up to a song that good (maybe Across the Universe and A Day in the Life). Wild Horses is a beautiful and sensitive love song that no one in England could believe the Stones wrote at the time ( I was living there then). It is still a beautiful and amazing song. (by the way one of Jagger's favorites I read)
Oh Jeez I just realized how lame my post was about the real Stones and the best song ever ... "Wild Horses" ... too much egg-nog man (cognac actually) ... that goes straight to the brain - I thought you were talking about the real Stones as opposed to the rag!
Ahaha... I like the number one song. That song is awesome. - How does it feeeeeeeeeeeellll.... Meh, I'm uninterested by this. I don't care whether or not Rolling Stone is a good magizine.
What were they thinking when they ranked Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run higher than The Beatles' A Day In The Life
as far as relevance goes in american culture, i think they did a good job. because they didn't go appealing to either side (people that think they know good music, and people who don't know good music at all). instead, they played the middle field and came up with this list. of course not everyone is going to like it, but this isn't really about most liked song, but rather what place these songs had in our history.
