I hate when people say they're going to do something then just never do it. I have a friend who does this kind of shit all the time, my best friend actually. The most recent example is he brought up the idea of going snowboarding. We got a bunch of people on board and set a date and everything. Well the date roles around and lo and behold my friend "doesn't have any money for that". What? How is that possible? Oh fuck I remember now, you're too busy smoking weed 24/7 and ordering pizza every second day to save money for ANYTHING! This kid complains about having no money while he smokes EVERYDAY, needlessly spends money on takeout, doesnt have a job, playing video games in his grnadma's basement all day everyday, and gets student loans and his grandmas money to pay for this shit! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

    Kay I'm done whining now.

sounds like he should be your weed smoking/video gaming friend, and you should make new friends to actually go out and do stuff with.

When someone is consistently not reliable the lesson is to not rely on them.

You will not change them so you either accept them as being that way and limit your expectations or choose to not remain as close friends.

Sometimes what suits us at different point in life changes and so do some of our acquaintances.

I let go of people like that constantly. The 'constantly' part may seem like an exaggeration, but a pattern of flakiness takes time to detect since they always seem so excited about meeting.

After a while, I had enough experience with people who bait and switch to identify the pattern by the third time it happens.

Same with people who are nice, and then all of sudden, for no apparent reason are really insensitive, then nice again, then insensitive again. It's all a power trip.

Yeah, this guy doesn't sound like he rates the title of "best friend".

I hate that too, but I'm definitely guilty of it.

I hate that too. Everyone has a friend like that. What do you with these friends is have fun with them doing the stuff they actually do (in this case, games and weed) but when they talk about planning shit, take it with a grain of salt. If you want to do fun things, plan them out with reliable friends.
