I'm getting pretty sick of the whole vampire thing. There's now actually a subculture of people out there who genuinely believe that they are "real" vampires, and they are at odds with the "fake" vampires who are just pretending. Are these people serious? Get real! http://waywardadvice.com/my-freak-son-thinks-hes-a-real-vampire/
I think it is bizarre that there is a big group - that is getting larger all the time - that actually think they are vampires! Puts a while new meaning to being in (needing) group therapy.
Old school vampires are awesome, but the stupid Twilight books ruined it. I feel bad for our generation becoming obsessed with what vampires were never meant to be. Zombies, on the other hand..they're always awesome. And at least with bad zombie movies, THEY KNOW they're bad. I heard someone call Twilight a classic and I facepalmed so hard I had a bump on my forehead.
It's simple, the old school people think Ann Rice is the vampire to be, and they resent the Twilight books even though in the end it's really the same thing. Kind of funny to me.
I once had a friend who actually believed he was a vampire. Once. Wore fake fangs and everything. As you could guess, he had some serious issues. I think he works at Wal Mart now.
I would drink blood when I was a kid and even now I enjoy the taste but I figured that was just some like childhood sex thing I didn't understand. Lol I never believed I was a vampire.
I'd hesitate to call Anne Rice 'old school' though relative to the Twilight stuff, it may seem that way. The real old schoolers weren't big into angsty/sexy vampires of any type. Their vamps are fucking nasty things to fear.
I don't have anything against vampire literature (whether it's 'real' classics or 'new' classics), but come on... pretending to be a vampire, or actually believing you are one... that's just sad and pathetic...
