Why do bed makers put all those sharp steel pieces around the wheels on a bed frame?

Don't they know people are barefooted when they are moving around the bedroom?

I just sliced open the back of my ankle.

    The bastards!

It's a Sleep Numbers bed and I hate everything about it. It cost something like $2,000 and it's terrible.

You could just build a baseboard around the bottom of the bed.

I think this is why we all started with the boxspring on the floor deal back in the day...

Yeah, something around these wheels on this frame. I'll keep the bottom of the bed open.

Machine made stuff. Back when i worked with steel i'd make sure that anything i made that would have regular human contact with it would be obsessively burred , i still have the scars from all of the times i checked a little too eagerly.

You should win an award or something! That's very conscientious!

I had a metal frame bed that had sharp corners near the wheels. I would bang my feet on them from time to time. I wrapped the corners with foam and secured it with some electric tape. Helps protect the feetsies.

You can get bed risers that might do the trick and also gives you a little more room under the bed for storage. They do come in different heights and shapes but this is a general idea of what they look like.

There are also some places that do custom orders if you want a nicer look.

    I agree with Cynthy.

Sounds like a horrible bed. I spent the same amount you did for your bed Aerianne; on my Pineapple wood claw-foot bed and dresser combined and there are no metal pieces on them to hurt my feet. It sounds like your bed was a rip off. Maybe you should sell it and find one that has no metal.

What's this about wheels on a bed frame? I've never seen such a thing. Do you wheel it on over to the living room to watch TV?

I've hit my shin on my bed more times than I can count. I think once I get tired of this bed I'm just going to build a platform and stick a mattress on top of it

    What Heat said.

Bed risers are great. Then you can do all sorts of things for storage under the bed.
