:frown: It took me quite a few years and quite a few near drownings to perfect that particular maneuver. When I get into my stride it is quite elegant, I'll have you know.
Hello, personally I don't have the ambition to learn how to swim. Imagine you are on a steamboat in the middle of the ocean. If the boat hits an iceberg and sinks I will drown very quick. But you have to swim for a few hours before you finally drown slowly . Regards Gyro
I love swimming :2thumbsup: I’ve swam in ponds, lakes, an abandon rock quarry that filled up with water, but I mainly enjoy the ocean. I like the extra buoyancy saltwater provides. Hotwater
A steamboat? Seriously? Ok, I'll go with it. I'm in the middle of the ocean and I hit an iceberg? Steamboat/Iceberg? Ok, I'm freezing cold in the middle of the ocean. I think sheer fear would kick in. Plus, If I fall off the side I'd probably go under, and not be able to get myself above water. I need a reasonably warm pool and the ability for my feet to touch the bottom. I'd probably be a gonna quicker than you.
I don't swim very often these days, but I did all the time as a kid. We had a pool from the time we moved here when I was 8 until I was about 14 or so and the wind tore it up. Then my teenage years were spent hanging out with my friends who had gym membership at the college pool in the colder months and we'd swim in the lake during the summer. Lake's really dried up now and there's a ton of snakes in the water that remains now.
We moved to an island when I was 9 and Mom sent me to the YMCA for lessons and by the time I was 15/16 I was a lifeguard and could swim in my sleep or with my hands and feet tied (Navy drownproofing course)....
OMG the weirdest thing just happened. Check the poll results thus far: Yes, I can swim - 93.75% No, I can not swim - 3.13% I am not sure if I can swim, I never tried - 3.13% This adds up to 100,01%. Something fishy is going on here!! (no pun intended)
You did not add the options: I can swim on my back but not my front. And: I can swim a little bit, but not much.
I learned when i was an infant. I have photos of my grandma hanging me over the side of the boat while my dad did like 50mph lol. I also remember a story about me being left sitting on the shore and them finding me with my head under water lol. yeahhhh my parents.
i wouldn't go quite that far. it pretty much depends on who you're guarding, but in the worst case scenario of lap swimmers, it might actually be the most boring job in the world.
I think it is safe to conclude that hippies are avid swimmers. So far a staggering 94.74% of you can swim!
Hello, steamboats are all the rage nowadays . OK, I'm guilty for bringing such a lame example. I hope you got my point about swimming anyway. Regards Gyro
Hello, I wouldn't base my conclusion on a piece of software proven with (of?) dyscalculia . Regards Gyro
