I took 4 hydro 10mg/650mg(apap) and I took 600mg of ibuprofen for an infection. I was wondering if I can take two more hydro? I do not use aspirin that much, but I heard it has bad effects on the liver. Has anybody take 6 hydros with a large APAP dosage? I am coming down on my high and just want to finish the rest. Any suggestions from experience people?
Hey buddy, "APAP" is Tylenol, NOT Asprin. And asprin is processed through the kidneys, like ibuprofen, while Tylenol, aka APAP aka Acetaminophen is processed through the liver and can, in large dosages or in moderate dosages taken consistently over a long period of time, do damage to the liver. If you took 4 10/650's then do the math - 650x4 = 2600. Now the label on a bottle of tylenol reads that you should not take more than 4000mg per day. The four hydros you took leave you enough room to take a couple more. I'll be honest with you - this issue is dicey. I myself have taken more than 10,000mg of tylenol in a single day without any adverse effects. However, I've known people who have just taken the max prescribed amount (4000mg) for a few weeks in a row and have ended up with nausea, jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes) and very elevated liver enzymes. In other words, your liver's tolerance to tylenol is as unique as your liver's tolerance to alcohol. And please, please, please don't take a bunch of APAP and then go out drinking with the boys (or girls, whatever). That is a surefire way to damage your liver. Take care of yourself, -V
