you leave your shoes ON (my apologies...) to walk your dog? You can actually HEAR your footsteps (clop clop)! How weird is that???
Shoot, when I hike barefoot, I'm like a ghost - gliding (almost) silently. Actually it is quite a bit less noise than even light athletic shoes, more or less depending on the terrain.
yeah, barefoot is quieter than with shoes, but it still makes noise. even hiking in the woods, there's a rustle of leaves, occasional slapping of twigs, etc. i'm assuming the OP was referring to street or sidewalk walking, since i don't know where else shoes make a "clop clop" sound, but going barefoot there still has a quieter "slap slap" sound. the only place it may be nearly silent, at least without making a conscious effort to be silent, is in the grass, and that's pretty quiet with or without shoes.
Can't say I've noticed the sound much, but I'm hella'va clumbsy with shoes. I had to wear a pair of boots the other day and kept tripping up and kicking stuff, my friends thought it was just pure comedy
Well, I'm as silent as a ghost; and I weigh about 180. That's why animals, birds....including families of deer....come up to me as I'm hiking. I go real slow, cause I have to drink it all in. Sometimes I stand still and listen to the silence. Not that my feet were making sound.....they weren't, but sometimes I don't want to concentrate at all on the path....just the stillness of the place. Surreal........
im so silent i take fun at scaring cats approaching them unheard from behind. then when i am at no distance from them i cough a bit and they jump in the air like jack-in-the-boxes
mmm would love to ride my MTB through there! Have just gotten into trail riding and I love it! Do have to wear shoes, though, but sometimes I just wear VFF's.
