!!! how on earth do you get 1700 channels??? i have Dish Network. not even close. what are you subscribed to?? holy smokes.
I have Netflix, but we watch most stuff online. I can't justify paying my cable company $150 a month in order for their service to suck. Once we get FiOS around here, I'm switching.
i used to only have cable in one room. paying 150 a month for that shit.. got the fios 89.00 for 3 rooms .. had to get my western channel back tomorrow. for now its perry mason and rosanne.
I think getting rid of cable altogether is a great idea. If you can get Netflix or something like it, it's worth it.
damn, you guys must have a horrible cable provider. i only pay 100 a month to time warner, who is famous for being a rip-off. and that's for digital cable and internet. like he said, it repeats itself. mine has regular channels basically from 2-200, then from 200-400 are almost the exact same channels, with a handful of new ones that weren't in the first 200. then there's about 50 different on-demand channels. then probably 30 or 40 premium channels (which i don't have, but i can see on the guide). then 30 porn channels and 50 sports channels, which i also don't get (as far as i know, i never actually checked). then about 20 spanish channels which i also don't get to my knowledge. by now, we're up to the upper 800s, which i just now discovered are more repeats of the regular channels from way back at the beginning. then there's 50 or so music channels, which i also just now discovered that i actually have access to. then from about 1000-1300 are all the channels i've already covered, but in HD. then from 1300-1800 is pretty much every channel i already mentioned that i don't have, but in HD.
i, personally, don't think all the music channels they throw into my Dish package should count. you know what i mean? Dish includes that as part of their line-up, so they can say they have 300 plus channels i can watch. highly dubious. about 40 of them are music channels. that is not the same as WATCHING tv channels, more like listening to channels. something kinda rip-offy there. and, thanks for clearing up the 1700 channel mystery.
Netflix has a lot of the same stuff I use to watch on cable. They have movies, TV shows, documentaries, etc...$7.99 to watch online. I watch movies on our ps3, computer, lap top, and my IPod. I use to have cable, phone, and Internet for $175.00 per month but now I just pay $35. A month for Internet to Charter and I pay $7.99 to Netflix. For phone I use Straight talk with no commitment $45 a month. In the long run my bills are smaller.
The best thing to do in my opinion is get a high speed internet connection and an apple tv (not an actual TV but a device you plug in to your tv) Then you can transmit your computer screen to your TV and watch anything you have on your computer. As long as you don't mind 'piracy' you can download pretty much any movie or tv show from thepiratebay dot com.
the internet is infinite channels i can participate in creating. 1700 channels of brainwashing i don't need.
Exactly. Why the hell would someone want 1700 channels and even pay for it. My TV has 30 channels and I only ever watch about 20% of those.
