Today I saw a bumper sticker that said: When the government owns you, what will you do? I got to thinking that, isn't that in the nature of government, all governments? Aren't people considered subjects of the government that they live under? Other than Anarchy, don't all governments own the people they govern?
I think the government actually has very little to do with my life, except for taking my taxes and putting things into place that may effect the structure of my life in some way i take for granted (laws regarding employment, transportation, basic rights etc). Otherwise, its not something i really think about except in an abstract way.
I guess they think they own us they make laws few want, they impinge on our private lives to a greater degree...they think they own the air we breathe and therefore they impose carbon tax (in Oz I am speaking of)....ooops Oz = Australia
The government already owns you through your birth certificate and social security number. Most people haven't a clue they're merely cogs in the system, but only as long as they choose to be.
Well if one wants to discuss politics, it matters how well you understand the ramifications of the politics you are discussing, don't you think?
I would agree with Rat... I am a commodity of the US.. a resource. Just because the level of control hasnt been ramped up doesnt mean its not well within the governments limitations. We are as free as it suits the well being of the US for us to be. Nothing more and probably just slightly less..
I would agree. The US government gives a lot of lip service to freedom and so many feel that they are free but as you point out, they have the ability to ramp up control, they just haven't done it yet. Just because they haven't, doesn't change our status as "subjects" or "property" of the state. The "Patriot" Act and the draft come to mind.
you guys can think of yourself as subjects and property of the state all you want, but the government does not own me.
They do. But one should be cautious using the term anarchy. It's another label. I don't know, I mean government has overstepped its bounds for the past 100 years and we're kept too distracted and entertained to realize it.
How can one opt out of being a 'cog in the system'? Presumably that person will still have a birth certificate and social security number, and will be paying taxes (unless they choose to live off the grid and fend for themselves, but they'd still have the cert and SS number)
I wrote a blog post about this a few years ago. Not so much about being owned by the government but about the illusion of freedom. It is obvious to me that we are not free and never will be. Like Frank Zappa said: Below is my post from my blog Are you free? Are you free? Think carefully before you answer this one. I’m mainly aiming this towards Americans but anyone can play along. I’ll ask again, are you free? I’ll even give you the answer….NO! You are not free. What defines freedom? Well, let’s go back to the good Dictionary and see what this freedom is all about. “free•dom Pronunciation: \ˈfrē-dəm\ Function: noun 1: the quality or state of being free: as a: the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action b: liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : INDEPENDENCE c: the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous <freedom from care> d: EASE, FACILITY <spoke the language with freedom> e: the quality of being frank, open, or outspoken <answered with freedom> f: improper familiarity g: boldness of conception or execution “The quality or state of being free”. Do you have that? Really? I don’t think so. If you live in Amerika, you do not live in a state of being free. You own property, get married, get divorced, work, travel, buy goods and any number of things at the pleasure of the government and only after being taxed for most of the above. Do you own property? Not really. Try not paying property taxes on your land or house and see how quickly the government will take it. If you are “legally” married, you had to apply for and be issued a marriage license by the government on some level, same with a divorce. When you are born, the government issues a birth certificate and a handy, dandy social security number that stays with you until you die. How about travel? Free to travel you say? Um, no, sorry. If you are going by car, motorcycle, just about any type of private connivance, you have to have a license, your car has to be tagged, likely has to be inspected, you have to pay taxes on your car, fuel, repairs, tires, brakes, etc. You have to obey the traffic laws, you have to wear your seatbelt, you have to buckle up your child, in some places, you can’t smoke in your car if you have a child in the car, you can’t talk on the cell phone in most places, you may not be able to park without paying more to some city government agency, you can’…well, you get the idea. And try getting on a train or ship without ID. Now someone is going to say “you can always bike or walk”. Maybe you can unless you look different, then you may get stopped by a police officer and asked for your identification (your papers please comrade). If you are walking at night, it is more likely. You can only cross the street by obeying the laws. Oh, and the walking shoes or bicycle you are using, you had to pay taxes on. Buying goods? Taxes. Some things, such as prescription drugs, you have to have a prescription for (government mandated), you may have to show ID (liquor, tobacco, some over-the-counter drugs, guns, ammo). Oh, you have to have money to buy goods which calls for a job, which you have to have your Social Security number to get and before you buy goods, taxes are likely already taken out. Now someone is going to say that you can die without the government’s approval or sanction. Well…..no. You can only die the way the government wants you to die. If you die in your sleep, fair enough. Or perhaps in a flaming car accident. OK, guess you don’t have to have the government’s approval for that (just its approval for the vehicle to have the accident in). But if you are terminally ill, tired of waiting to die and decide to end it all, better do it yourself but the government ain’t going to allow anyone to help you without persecuting them and in some states, just attempting yourself is against the law and you can be charged. And of course, after you die your family has to pay taxes on the casket, funeral plans, etc. A government issued death certificate has to be issued. The government may force an autopsy to be done and, oh yea, I forgot! The fuckers are going to take a huge chunk of what you left behind, if you have much to leave! Now some fucking moron is going to say “well, if you obey the laws, you remain free”. Bullshit! Using that same logic, the women living under Taliban rule were free as long as the obeyed Taliban law. Hell, using that logic, prisoners are free in prison as long as they obey the rules, only go where the warden allows them to go and don’t cause trouble. If you are living on the streets, don’t own any property except for what is on your back, you are more free than the, middle-class fucks who mortgage their lives to buy the latest, greatest gadget advertised on TV. The truly poor have a power only equaled by the very rich. Think about that, it is true. The poor have nothing for the government or lawyers to take. The rich can shield themselves from the blood suckers. Now someone is going to say, “Randal, you aren’t free either by your own definition”. It is true that I pay taxes and obey the laws (well, most of them), carry ID, etc. But the difference is that I don’t delude myself by saying that I’m a “Free American”. I fully realize that what freedoms I have left I have at the pleasure of the government. What they can’t do, yet, is keep me quiet. They can’t take away the free spirit that defines me, they can’ shut me up. I can also imagine some stupid son-of-a-bitch saying “If you don’t like it, leave!”. And my answer is: FUCK OFF! This country was founded by people that saw what was wrong and fought to change it. Our country is 180 degrees away from what our forefathers envisioned for us. We have lost that vision. We have become mired in the consumerism culture. We have become slaves to our own desire to have the latest, greatest gadgets and clothes. Most people in this country don’t give a shit who is in power as long as they get to have their Ipods, cell phones and color TVs. These people disgust me. Don’t wave your plastic “Made in China’ US flag at me and tell me that I’m un-American. FUCK OFF.
Well, first of all, I am not a subject of the government ... I am a subject of Her Majesty the Queen. She, and she alone, rules over the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The government do not ... they merely govern. There is a difference between governing and ruling. I owe no allegiance to the government. I owe allegiance to the queen. The government is chosen by the people, at regular general elections, to govern the country and organise and run its necessary services. Parliament is chosen by the people, at those same general elections, to decide on our behalf what new laws ought to be made, what old laws ought to be amended or repealed, and what taxes ought to be permitted to be levied in order to provide the funds the government needs to govern. Unfortunately, the system breaks down because the government is chosen from among the party (or coalition of parties) which prevailed at the last election; and as members of parliament aspire to be appointed to posts in the government, they fail to perform their proper function of holding the government to account on their constituents' behalf. Instead, they allow the party whips to tell them how to think, act and vote - although for the most part, ambition alone would be sufficient even without the party whips. Is this a good thing? No Is there a better way? Maybe ... but if there is, I've yet to come across it. Do they own me? Most definitely not.
No, corporations own you. Here's how: Massive corporations rule the earth by their unique ability to purchase government.
It's a very long winded theory. 2008 - Pressed Rat: I could go into this with so much more depth than I am willing to do right now. However, people must understand the difference between CIVIL LAW (law of the land) and MARITIME ADMIRALTY LAW (law of the sea/i.e. international law). Because you are born from your mother's water, you are hence a MARITIME ADMIRALTY PRODUCT and thus you are owned by the international banks. Yes, most people have no idea that their birth certificates are traded on the stock exchange. We all like to think we are US citizens, when most people have no idea there is a difference between the united states (lower case) of America and the corporation known as the United States of America (all capitals) that was formed in 1868. When your mother signed your birth certificate, she gave you over to the U.S. corporation. Through our birth certificates, we are nothing more than collateral for the US corporation's loans from the international bankers. Notice that on any official document your name is in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Do you know why this is?? All capital letters represents something that is dead. Notice on tombstones the person's name is in all capital letters. In other words, you are a non-entity. With anything having to do with business your name is always in all capital letters because only capital letters can be dealt with by banks, corporations and government. Did you know that "bench" (example: the judge rules from the bench) means BANK in Latin? That's because the court system is an international Freemasonic system that represents international commerce. The judge wears black because black is the color of death. Go into any court or government building and you will see the US flag. Except this will not be any ordinary US flag, but rather a US flag with a golden fringe. Again, this represents INTERNATIONAL LAW or MARITIME ADMIRALTY LAW. The flag of maritime admiralty is not the flag bound by the US Constitution, but by international banking and finance. Just remember that next time you go to court for a speeding ticket. http://freedom-school.com/study-links.html Language is key. Most people don't even understand how the English language was even created or for what purpose. We use words every day that we think we know the meaning of, when often there are other meanings hidden within those words. It's just like symbolism where you have an exoteric and esoteric meaning. Odon: I thought the No. was for ease of finding you on the system. I just phoned my electric company, gave my name and address got this response: Sorry, sir, can't find you. I found my account No. and hey presto they found me. This has to be one of the most intriguing theories I've read in a while so won't dismiss it. But it does sound a little crazy. There are hundreds of "John Smiths" only one BAA 83506 Births and deaths registration act 1953 REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS, MARRIAGES, ETC., ENGLAND AND WALES The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Regulations 2003 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2003/3048/contents/made I approve, Signed by authority of the Chancellor of the Exchequer
