What's really sad and pointless is when you observe two or more trolls trolling each other. Both think they're getting a reaction out of each other, but only an outside observer notices both trolls end up wasting each others time since the point of trolling is to get a genuine reaction out of others.

 

This theory is pretty flawed, honestly. All I have to do to turn someone's dot red is catch a noob with one green dot, very few posts, and neg rep him or her for one post and it turns the green dot red.
