From the perspective of those of us living outside the land of the brave and the free we are constantly amazed at the powers Americans attribute to their president. One would think they were kings and didn't have to contend with Congress, the military industrial complex and legions of cashed up lobbyists. It's especially strange to us when we hear Americans blaming their president for the country's economic woes. C'mon people, he doesn't have the power you all imagine. In fact, if the recent farce in congress pretending to be a solution to US debt tells us anything it's that the American political system is stuffed and needs a drastic overhall if things are to improve. Good luck to you all, you're going to need it.
He's a horrible president. Any man who would sign NDAA, CISPA, HR 347 and, the FAA Reauthorization Act, is a crook! And deserves to be impeached! Obama violates our devinely inspired Constitution in HUGE ways, which directly effects freedom of speech, and many other Constitutional rights. Obama's young supporters are too willing to surrender their Human Rights for basically Obama's word that he "cares about us," when, it's really a facade. Obama didn't deserve the presidency, at least Dr Ron Paul was honest, and really knows what's wrong with government. Obama raised the national debt more in 4 years than bush did in 8. (which I hated Bush too.) But obama still supports these stupid war in the middle east, and really bad legislation which allows the government to spy on advrage citizens!!!
From outside the US your post appears to be somewhat delusional. 'Divinely inspired Constitution'? Oh yeh, God's on your side. The US governement has been spying on average citizens for a very, very long time. Simply consider the title 'Federal Bureau of Investigation' and recall the McArthy era. As to blaming Obama for everything that's wrong with the US PLEASE get over this exclusively American delusion that any president had such sweaping powers that they can ignore Congress and go their own way. Essentially the major problem the US faces is larger than the absurdity of groups like the gun lobby , the Tea Party and other nut cases, it's the system of government itself and the power is grants cashed up lobbyists. If you imagine that's a huge claim just think about a nation that claims to be run on so called free - enterprise principles using vast sums of taxpayers money to subsidize predatory banks and investment companies.
You don't know me, so fuck off. I believe in the Rights America stands for, the freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, the right to be secure from unreasonable searches and, other Liberties that made me believe I lived in a free country. I know now that I'm older that it's not just the presidents fault. But a deep corruption in our political system AKA The Military Industrial Comlex. But you have it all wrong. People who believe in our founding principles are not the "crazy" ones. we're American; We take pride in not being Europe. The UK has some crazy laws restricting protest and other such non sense. Americans wont put up with the upcoming tyranny of laws like NDAA and HR 347.
I'm very glad I don't know you and hold to my assertion you and your kind are deluded. And yes, you have every right to hang onto your rights. The right to end up dead in the gutter if you're sick, the right to be randomly targeted by any fool armed with a repeat firing weapon, the right to subsidize the most obscene and corrupt electoral system on the planet, the right to be brain washed by the neo conservative media, the right to imagine you live in the land of free enterprize - - - - the list could go on. And no, I don't live in Europe. The planet is a little larger than that but then again, geography was never an American strength unless oil was involved.
The Constitution is what gives you the RIGHTS to say its a crock of shit! It gives you the right to say Obama thinks hes King of America. However, Obama's trying to take our rights away. So I don't give a fuck how much you liberal THINK you know; you don't know SHIT about BASIC human rights and civil liberties. So many of you are so fixated in the left-right paradime, that you can't even notice it's the same fucking thing!!! Our founders, didn't like big government. They didn't like a government who can kick in your doors, over tax and, steal property from you. They didn't like the tyranny that Great Brittan represented, and we used our arms to protect our land. Free From religous prosecution, free from persecution for maybe saying something controversial. That's not a crock of shit, my friend! That is something to believe in; and many ex soldeirs who swore to "defend and uphold the Constitution, from all enemies foriegn, and domestic," take that shit VERY seriously. As they should; the Constitution was written to protect us from a bad government. That's why the BAD GOVERNMENT we have now, can't follow it!!!!
But it simply hasn't protected you from bad government. In fact the US system of government merely provides the illusion of those protections playing lip-service to democracy whilst allowing a rich and powerful 'elite' to actually govern by stealth. As to these imagined freedoms just think again about the McArthy era and ask yourself if the constitution protected Americans from intrusive government spying and pursecution. In what sense also did prohibition protect American's libertys? The rot set in long before Obama came onto the scene and will continue after he departs if the machinery of government and the electoral system isn't thoroughly overhauled.
I didn't say the Constitution was a crock of shit, I said you calling it divinely inspired was a crock of shit. This is the second time you've come at me putting words in my mouth. Stay on point, knock off the ad hominum arguements and grow the fuck up. Just a bit of friendly advice.
Thomas Jefferson knew it would become corrupted again. It's up to the people to wake up and hold our government accountable.
At the close of the Coonstitutional Convention, a crowd gathered outside anxiously awaiting to learn what their new Government would be. As Ben Franklin walked out, they asked him what they've all been wondering. "We've given you a Republic, if you can keep it."
