To the original OP. I am in the same boat. I have never been able to get up either. If I have to be up early in the morning for something if I am not waken but someone else I will just sleep right through it. I can set every alarm in the house & it don't matter. I am glad you posted this. Also glad to hear there is someone else in the world like me.

My sister is one of those people that is horrid to wake up. Always was.

The only thing that changed her was having her kids.

    I'm the same as Tazer.
I just tell myself "Right Puggy [coz I address myself informally] Up at 02.30hrs.
I always wake up just 1-or-2 minutes before the allotted time.
Been able to do it all my days, but have no idea how.

Well, I have no advice on the actually waking up part, but I can say once you figure that out, if you wake up at the exact same time every day for 3 weeks or so, your body will just be set to get up at that time and you won't even need an alarm. The trick is that you have to get up at that same time, be it a weekend or whatever. You have to stay up for 5-10 minutes, and then you can go back to sleep if you don't have to be up. Also, try to keep your eating schedule pretty regular, your digestive system can also be a good way to get yourself up and moving in the morning.

Hope it helps. Let us know. It will probably take a few nights or a week or so. :)
I guess the headbanging part is to re-inforce the self hypnosis.

Go to bed early, at least 10 hours before any alarm and you will wake naturally and happily.

This I cannot do. This is because my routine is such that I am not in a position to go to bed earlier except on weekends. :( So what I can do is cut off my entertainment activities on the weekends and go to bed earlier then.

Well, thanks so much for your tips. The most difficult part for me is the waking up at the same time because I have to go to office at different timings. Also, sadly but truly that me eating schedule is also pretty much irregular. :(

What happens if nobody is around to wake you up? Do you just continue to sleep?

It just happened only a few occasions in my life and as you said, yes, I kept on sleeping for hours. :(
Generally, my mom is always around and she is well aware of this worst habit of mine, so she doesn't let that happen often thankfully. :)
