http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/09/world-freedom-index-2013_n_2440620.html The U.S. is certainly not at number one. 1. New Zealand 2. Netherlands 3. Hong Kong 4. Australia 5. Canada 6. Ireland 7. United States 8. Denmark 9. Japan 10. Estonia
They are choosing what they consider to be more important freedoms which not everyone would agree with. Ireland doesn't give women the freedom to have abortions which some women might consider to be of importance...
yeah, a ranking of freedoms should include all freedoms, not like 3 of them. i can't imagine anyone is truly surprised the the US wasn't number 1.
Oh, cool man! I was looking for that, since I am looking for places to immigrate to. HSBC's expat satisfaction index is a pretty good source too, if anyone is interested. I do not know how New Zealand and Australia rate as far as taxes, though. And I'm surprised Switzerland isn't among the top contenders. Ireland was in previous years, which also seemed strange to me.
The only countries where you have much freedom are third world kleptocracies. You americans ares o brainwashed you think freedom is the right to choose what snack food to get fat from while someone lies to you on tv. Notice its published by cato.
I think 180th would be about right for Britain. You know we have our own internet police now - literarlly. And the whole place is as Feudalist as most 3rd world countries.. I was surprised Switz wasnt higher. Altho their euthanaesia laws are a bit scary. While Swiss laws are quite relaxed, Swiss people I find are extremely conservative. Which is a strange anomaly.. Some countries use the claim of "freedom" as a way of repressing people. eg George Nutjob Bush. And also Sweden. In some ways Sweden is relaxed and free. In others, it is horrible eg Monarchies and other shit esp radical feminssm. Prax you would *hate* Sweden - beautiful women, but users of escorts are jailed.. We always used to think fo Sweden as being like Holland. But it is not.. Infact, there is a conservative side to the Dutch too.
