    What is your favorite?

For me, the theme to Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Ennio Morricone is some of the best movie music ever created. Really beautiful and haunting music, and it complemented the setting and scenes of the movie so well.

Back when I was in High School (Over 10 years ago) I would help my photography teacher set up the darkroom before classes would start. Every week he would play a different soundtrack from a different movie. The one that sticks out the most, the I remember the most, is the soundtrack to the 1997 Sci-fi film 'Gattaca'. Great music.

you kind of ruined the thread by starting with the best (Morricone)

I'm a huge fan of the spaghetti westerns...

but i also really like the jazzy soundtracks of the late 60's early 70's...especially on cop movies

i suppose Johnny Mandel would be a good sample of what i like

I know the movie came after the music, but The Doors' The End is brilliantly worked into Apocalypse Now!

also the whole soundtrack to the movie fits perfectly

Special mention to The Phantom Menace, movie itself was a steaming pile of dog turd, but loved the soundtrack, i though how on earth is he going to rival something like the Imperial death march, but i think he did. Either that or the rest of the movie was so shit the soundtrack stood out

My favourite though is the credits on star trek, da da dahhhh da da da daaaa da

Great question! And one I shall think on longer I'm sure. But what first springs to mind for me is 'Trainspotting' - Highlights being Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day' and Blur's 'Sing'. And of course, Iggy...

I love the music in Guy Ritchie's films too - 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' has some amazing music. Including E-Z Rollers: Walk This Land

There's a snippet at the end of that video from 'Goodfellas' which also rules :)

I really liked what Zombie did with the Devils Rejects soundtrack. He took great songs that we all know and love, and used them to make us relate to these nasty evil sons of bitches. It was the way he used the music that actually had me rooting for those sick fucks.
