Didnt know where to post this but seein as I'm an old hippie myself figured I'd start here. Currently livin SWF, need to move to a legal state, but have no idea where to go. I'm thinkin Humboldt county, but anywhere I can grow my medicine legally will do. Not lookin to make money selling or dealing, etc. Just a quiet, laid-back older(59) guy that wants to grow w/o worrying every day bout goin to jail. Fl. laws are not too cool, up to 12 mos. for simple possesion for less than an oz. Currently workin on gettin rid of everything i own, done sold wshr, dryer, refrig, furn, etc. Everything that wont fit in my pick-up is goin. Startin my 3rd little grow and leavin when thats done, so got till around sometime this summer b4 ready to go. Problem i face is where should i move to, Calif, Wash, Ore??? As far as $$$ I am comfy at around 600 mo. rent, can make it pretty good on that, but could possibly go more if warranted. Guess i better cut this short, i tend to ramble on and on and on. Peace

Guess nobody read this or just not interested. I really want to pack up all and travel west, but now I'm older and hopefully a little wiser, grabbing a backpack and takin off dont seem to be as cool now as it was when i did it in the 70's. I have a little money and steady income now, could sell everything, buy an RV and take off, could put my stuff in storage and take a train, plane, etc. Would love to have a travel partner, but in this day and age i find it harder to trust in people like i used to. At one time in my life i just would say "Screw it-Let's do it!, but am leery of doing that now. Lookin hard at Arcata, but then comes the thoughts, what to do when i get there, how hard will it be finding a place, etc. So am at a standstill for the moment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Any old, honest hippies out there willing to help an old, depressed Vet, give me a holler. Peace

I read it, billymac, I didn't respond because while I'd like to do the same thing I'm kind of stuck where I am at the moment....

So diff. now than it used to be back in the days when i did stuff like this on a moments notice. I will prolly be here for at least the next year, so remember me if and when u r ready and we'll see what comes up. Peace

Santa Cruz, CA, maybe? Oregon, if you need to live cheaply.. CA is expensive. Santa Cruz is cool, though. Nederland, CO is fucking awesome.

Dunno - lot of spots.. Eugene is cool..

I've been living in the UK now since the mid 70s, so I'm no help whatsoever in making any suggestions about where you could go. But I hope you find somewhere you are happy to call home.

n.cali, oregon or washington have much to offer..... people are what matters most where ever you live. look for kindred spirits within a community before committing. We are open to visitors/ work share folks on our homestead, but are located in n. central wa., almost canada so a very long way for you. blessings on your journey, mich

I know folks who figured they'd move to Eugene, they had heard to was a cool place.

After they arrived they said it was better than they had hoped.

I think colorado and oregon are pretty neat places.

Just figure out where you're going and how you're subsisting before you leave, and make sure you have the money to live a good while if things didn't pan out how you'd planned, or your transmission fell out, or whatever.

And don't travel across state lines with bud. Or at all, really...... if they impound your truck and arrest you, it will really put a damper on the whole moving thing.

Im in Pend Oreille county, NE Wash state and while living here is dirt cheap the grow season is short. POWER HERE IS THE CHEAPEST IN THE US due to our county owned hydro dam. That makes up for the short season. Land here is cheap also. Frontier Land co has lots of propertys for under a $1000 down and $500 a month. Wash allows 15 plants and 24 oz medical and their legalization bill to be voted on is FAKE legalization and im voting no on it. If you dont mind working to live rather than living to work you can live here.

I hate being stuck. and, the funny thing is, I'm stuck because I making myself stuck. Afraid to make a change, now that i'm 58. Back in the 70, we girls would stick our thumbs out and hitchhike all the way down to FLA. <palm slap> Why can't I just pick up and go. I can, but i don't. my fear is dumb.

You described me perfectly: I hitched west many times back then at the drop of a hat, many times with no more than a few bucks and a backpack. Now i have no ties, a monthly income so i could actually afford to drive wherever, so why am i here? You answered that rite on also-"fear" I think too much-what if i dont make friends, what if this-what if that- I guess at my age this comes from experience, at 25 i didn't give a crap, at 60 i finally think i do. So in coupla months goin back to Fl. cause at least i'm comfy there, and maybe work some on conquering my fear-i think you're wrong there, fear aint dumb, it's real. Peace!
