Bought a music CD at Barnes&Noble and when I got home and opened it there was no CD inside. It wasn't obvious that someone could have stolen the cd inside, the package hadn't obviously been opened. The sealed clear plastic wrap was still on it and everything. If someone had opened it they would have to be severely high on meth or something, or maybe meth and crack and being extremely careful perfectly opened it, took the cd out, and used a heat sealer to carefully reseal so perfectly you couldn't see where it was done. But who would go to that much effort to steal a CD?! It would be easier to steal the whole thing. :banghead: .
It was probably just a defect in the packaging process at the factory. I doubt someone stole the CD. Who buys CDs anymore?
yeah, i'm sure they just fucked it up in packaging. hopefully barnes and noble is trusting enough to exchange it for you. i know it's a little different, but i once bought a used video game from the local used video game store and when i got it home they had put the wrong game into the case. so i went to try and exchange it for the game i had actually bought, and they basically told me i was trying to steal from them and i should leave. of course, if i were in their shoes i would have probably thought the same thing. but then i might also think that if i were a barnes and noble worker and you brought in your cd.
I'm sure that is what happend, CD failed to be put in the case and quality control missed it. That's kinda bullshit because I can see how it will look to the store if I try to return the empty case and tell them there was no CD. They wouldn't fuckin' believe that Being stoned, it seemed interesting to think about someone going to extreme efforts to steal it that way. If no one ever saw it, there's no way to prove it happened either way.
Call up the cd company, I'm sure it has happened to someone once before. I doubt they wouldn't help you out in someway, after all they do want your business in the future. Reminds me of a time I bought an iPod player for in my car, and inside the rubber wire coating there was no wire. For days I couldnt figure out why the hell it didn't work, haha.
It's probably a scheme where they increase profits by making a small percentage of the packages empty. And anyone who complains will not be believed.
You might be surprised at the different things that the people at Barnes & Noble have to deal with...real things, not made up. I still think you should take it back, and hopefully you have some type of receipt. I realize most people use debit (or credit) cards now...if so, you should easily be able to come up with a receipt. Also, in that business CDs are placed in the case and packaged by a machine (I've been told), and quality control wouldn't necessarily have ever checked inside the case; but, only made sure the outside packaging was done correctly. There is a good chance there could have been a "run" of this done at the factory, and you wouldn't even be the only person that has brought this particular CD back. The sooner you do this - take it back, the more you will be believed.
It took it back to the store. Since they were out of that particular CD, they said they would switch it out whenever the order came in.
I was being somewhat facetious. I buy CDs, too, but only if I like what I hear after downloading it online first.
Maybe they are out of stock because all the CD boxes were empty. :smilielol5: I used to purchase books for a library and one came in that was missing several pages throughout the book and several pages were blank. We returned it and the next one came with the same problem. We returned it again asking that they check for the damage before sending another one out. It turned out all the books they got had the same defect.
This reminds me of the time my mom rented a movie and there was a porn in the friggen "101 Dalmatians" package... My mom is super conservative about that stuff...so that makes it extra hilarious. But to the OP, if someone was high on meth and/or meth AND crack, I doubt they'd be careful. If anything, they'd probably eat the packaging and stick the CD in their ass.
I wouldn't know that since I don't do meth I just know meth heads and I see what their daily life is like...so it fit the category to those I know
