If money were no object and you could build an immense palace with so many rooms you could pick themes for them what would they be called, what would they be used for and how would they be decorated?

me? Here are a few, but i'll add more.

Irridium Room: filled with retro Art Deco furniture for watching Black & White films, listening to Jazz and drinking Martinis. It would be decorated with b&w photos of NYC from the 1920's to 1950's.

Thule, a dark oak paneled room with an immense fireplace and oil paintings of seascapes. the room would be for drinking Scotch and listening to Late Romantic era music (Wagner, Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler, etc.)

Lotus Room a serene seated Buddha made of Bronze, covered in verdigris, a gentle waterfall over a rock wall, a pebble garden with many little smooth white stones and three large black ones made for

Yash Raj as colorful as a menagerie of peacocks, parakeets and cockateils with a panoply of Indian artefacts for watching Bollywood and eating Indian food.

I love these threads  lets all get creative.

Mine would be a tree house connected to other trees so that each tree had one room connected by rope walkways.

    1. Aztec room filled with Aztec stone designs and wooden masks and lots water features and tropical plants. Drum beats would fill the air.

    2. A medieval lounge. King Henry style. Banquets on saturdays after a hunt.

    3. Greco-Roman bedroom. Statues/busts of famous greats would don the walkways, everything would be white and blues/purples, draped in plush velvet and marble.

i'm generally not too into themed rooms. i have always wanted a room with a giant fishtank for walls though.

also, a separate building connected by an underground tunnel.

    I like this idea.

I'd like giant room/ snowdome .. thats full of snow, ofcourse. Like in Kill BIll vol1

And also a nuclear underground bunker, with loads of computer screens. They wouldn't have to do much. Just enough to convince people that they were in some post-Armageddon control centre.

Apparently crap, old computers are more immune to nuclear electromagnetic effects than newer ones. So maybe I just dig my old ones out..

Infact, I could prob come out with loads of ideas like this.

Moroccan lounge room. And that's pretty much it, I think, since I don't like extravagance.
And a huuuge old library, with nice armchairs, Tiffany lamps and a small chess table, if that counts.

I don't really care about themed rooms, so long as everything in my house has a story

I'd have a gothic sort of room.. with big stained glass windows too, and a massive open fire place. Candles to light the room. Bookshelves built into the wall full of dusty old un-named books..

I am guessing you approve the library idea. Or the Tiffany lamps :)

I don't like it, too much stuff and knick knacks for my taste. And I don't like the rugs and all that, I like bare floors.
    Why can't you have it?

It looks ok for a lounge room in my opinion (decorationwise, room itself seems a bit too small for that) but I would not like to use it as a bedroom like that. Too crowded indeed.

I like it crowded I think because I like all the statues, candles, books etc.. i dont own that much stuff so I think it would be less..

Cant because I dont own this house so cant paint, cant hang anything on the walls, cant really do anything, plus the room shape wouldnt work well with my place, and the fact anything under 3ft in my house gets destroyed by small hands and paws, that room is all quite low down..

Unless outside, i dont really like open space.

I always wanted a platform out in the woods with a niece soft floor made out of something. And, here's the tricky part, it would be protected from bugs and nasty weather by force fields. So you could enjoy nature without putting up with her BS. Oh, and the animals couldn't see or hear you so you could also enjoy them without disturbing them.
    Glass wouldn't work.

I don't like clutter or bric-a-brac. I like sparsely furnished rooms with sturdy, comfortable furniture, large windows and paintings on the walls. Floor coverings would be oriental rugs, not carpeting.

Since I prefer inaction to action, rooms would be designed around drinking, watching TV, reading and listening to music.

the themes would be to provide a wide variety of rooms to sit in.

Its funny that I was only talking yesterday that 'IF' I won the lottery I would have a room decked out like an ol' english pub, with velvet stools, old wooden tables that need a beer mat under one leg because they are wonky! every single spirit behind the bar, a dart board with a chalk board for the scores, a pool table and even a 'peggy mitchell' to serve me (you gotta watch eastenders to get that one).

I think it would quickly become my favorite room in the house.....
