I've noticed a lot of people (invariably younger than myself) now use the word "random" for things which are blatantly not. e.g. "we went to this random bar" "I met this random guy" "we were in this random place" it seems to be a new buzz word, often used pejoratively, and it annoys me! that is all.
All I can say about that is , 2 1/2 years ago I found this random forum and started making , and responding to random posts . desert rat
Your post is kind of random. Maybe you should have posted it in the random thoughts forum. =] Now that you mention yet, yeah, people do use the word random often with examples just like you gave..

My Mum was the first person to point out to me the use of the word "random" like this. She found it amusing...I think it started getting used here in the UK about 6 or 7 years ago I think. It makes me think of Einstein's famous quote - "God does not play dice"...Although he was obviously talking about physics.
You are compleetly forgetting about Random house , http://www.randomhouse.com/category/ and there are "random" acts of kindness. . I will think think of more as I go randomly about the day . desert rat
