Does anybody know any freeware programs I can get to put a proxy on an LAN? The reason I need to know is because I'm setting up a dedicated server for Counter-Strike on my 2nd machine, the problem is, the dedicated server will be set to my LAN IP.... how can I put a proxy on this?
I'm guesing you want to get your new machine out to the internet via your first machine? What OS is your first machine running? What is your LAN configuration? (switches and stuff, or just a corss over cable)? Your BEST bet in almost all situations is not to harnass the connection of one machine, but to let a router do the work.
I have the server (or soon to be) hooked up to the internet already, but when I try making a server in CS the IP of it is the LAN IP. All machines are running on Windows XP.
What is your LAN configuration? (your pc is) "hooked up to the internet already"....HOW? Does it have an adapter that is bound to an internet addry? Are you getting your internet across your LAN, etc..
First of all configure the machine for a fixed IP address and then configure the router to virtual hosting for that IP address. In D Link it is in the advance firewall setting somewhere and then u have to know the port that the game wants to use. Voila!!!
