My brother is on probation for underage consumption. He should be getting off this weekend after a year. Well, about 2 weeks ago he got a misdemeanor in a neighboring state for shoplifting at walmart. Stupid I know. My question is if anyone knows that will his probation officer notice the charge? Wasn't sure where to post this one so I apologize if this is in the wrong section! Answers much appreciated. thanks

I didn't figure she would catch something like this right away, expecially being in another state. It just worries me because if revoked, he could spend anywhere from 30 days to a year in county.

Maybe jail would/will cure him of taking things that don't belong to him while he's still young. Some people need a wake up call and hopefully this will be his.

Although I detest walfuckmart, they do own the crap in their stores, not people who just decide to boost some of it.

Yeah, I don't know the answer to your question, but I hope your brother gets himself on a better path. I'm sure most of us drank underage, but shoplifting is stupid.

Especially not if he delays it. He needs to plead not guilty if he has court before probation is up. Well, he should anyway. But def to avoid a violation

I was released after serving 2 out of 4 years of intensely monitored probation earlier this year. One thing my lawyer did explain to me was that while my probation officer might not find out of I was charged or found guilty of any other crimes after being put on probation, if the court found out after the fact I could face a separate charge. Not sure what the merits to this are, though.

Wow. Drinking underage is a "crime" in the US ...

When I was 16, if there was a school trip, I'd always make sure I came back from the pub at 4pm drunker than anyone..
