I tried to play it when I was about 6/7 years old and I got no where. My parents spent about £400 on renting a Flute or something like that. I wish I kept it up because then I could be like Jethro Tull or play some Gong or something.
I have a flute that was given to me a few years ago because I used to play in my early teens. But sadly it just sits in the case. I really want to play again but I guess laziness has gotten the best of me. I guess I should break out some Ian Anderson for some inspiration
I play flute, I've been playing for 4 years and I'm in grade 7 Royal Conservatory. (I play at the level of grade 9 though, but I don't have the theory so I am forced to do grade 7). You have to breathe from your abdomin, and don't breathe through your nose, breathe through your mouth. Flute is a relatively easy insturment to pick up (but becoming really good is another thing). Good luck
oo skankleft please be a ska fan, i can't find many on the forums eek! I started playing flute when i was about 10 and have been palying it since. i stopped lessons about last year coz i couldn't fit it in. i play other stuff too, bassoon/piano/voice and ensembles etc. ugh. busy busy. have jsut finished uni/music college auditions now so am picking the flute up again. Shellia, if you use your diapragm it can help stop the breathiness. lots of beginner flautists have trouble with the breathiness when they start playing it just takes practise really.
