    Hello,

i've been feeling very down recently. although i'm nowhere near as bad as i have been, i could do with some mental excersizes to help me through, particularly as i'm in a pretty tricky and crucial stage in my education and can't afford to slip into lethargy. a friend of mine reccomended the mood gym, which was reccomended him by his GP (he has similar problems with anxiety and depression as me) which offers online cbt and i've been finding the excersizes very helpful in terms of keeping my head above water, does anyone know of anything other useful online tools which help maintain mental wellbeing?

on-line tools, no. you might want to see an md to have your vitamin d levels checked. there are some other medical tests too I think that could be done.

a meditation practice might help you with anxiety. joining a meditation group in particular might help

getting a 1/2 hour per day of light aerobic exercise per day might help.

dietary changes might help. I recommend eating fresh, lightly cooked whole foods served warm. stay away from processed foods and foods served cold or raw.

you might want to try reading the book "curing depression naturally with chinese medicine" by bob flaws

acupuncture and chinese herbal medicine can help

    talk therapy might help

watching some funny movies might help

if the self help and natural therapies fail, you might want to consider conventional medical treatment for depression, though these treatments often have side effects

    good luck!

for mental health stuff it's usually better to get out and be interactive with other people, so perhaps look into an outpatient partial hospital program? i've been through these in my area... 2 week (can be longer depending on your situation and also insurance) programs that offer day classes (i've done programs which specialize in CBT and others in DBT) that address coping skills and whatnot, you go during the day and then go home at night.

part of what helps, in addition to what you learn, is the act of getting up, going somewhere, seeing people, and having a schedule. and you're usually done early afternoon so you can do whatever you want for the rest of the day and go home at night. plus breaks between classes.

    the art of routine!!

edit: the ones i've been to also had a psychiatrist available so med adjustments/concerns were easy to deal with (with the assumption that the doctor is halfway decent)

also i noticed you're in the UK... i'm in the US so i don't know if you guys have anything similar over there... i'd imagine there's something like it though if not more or less the same

I just recently found a nice big book of NLP tech's on Kickass Torrnet.
It's reminding me of stuff I already knew but forgot and giving me new tech's I never heard of .
