I made this post before reading your counter post . Any way lots of people make and drink there own alchol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_brewing . Most of the people making there own beer/ wine will have enough personal resposasibility not to comit any kind of crime while brewing , or drinking there own product . Most of the people that have a machine shop and have some gun smithing skills will also have enough personal resposability not to allow there guns to fall in to the hands of any one that would commite a crime with there guns . Also in the USA if a weppon can fire full auto , you need a class 3 lic. , its requires a F.B.I. back ground check and a specal stamp . Its around $2000 -$3000 for each weppon . All most people really need is a 12 gage pump shot gun , unless the person comming at you is using body armor , then run like hell. desert rat
p.s. this is stating it $200 , it must of come down http://www.gunsandammo.com/2011/10/19/how-to-buy-class-three-weapons/

    Well exactly....

I personally have made my own alcohol. I didn't really do shit, I put some apple pulp in water with a dollar of yeast and waited a week.

    I don't think that's comparable to home-making deadly weapons.

I read the plans you posted, and there's no way in hell that guy could have made that, in order to make a safe, reliable, properly functioning version of that, I would need months or years.... I'm reasonably handy, but without a machine shop, you're NOT making that thing, and hell, he suggests using an old rifle barrel to make your barrel, which obviously involves having an old rifle. That's basically a novelty, the guy liked playing with guns and fantisizing about being in the resistance (to what, dunno....) but being realistic, you go buy a barrel and magazines, and then good luck with the rest, not only pulling the favors but somehow not getting turned in at the same time, by at least someone.

Because unless you're a machinist and have a shop, you don't have a hope in hell of even drilling the holes where you want them.

So no, I think people making their own guns, in this context, is laughable, thats hundreds of hours of work (for someone who is not already a gunsmith) to make one gun, and that guys gun, while neat, still didn't look to be quite HK quality, no matter what he said. Do you think this autistic kid could have REALLY found a machine shop and/or machinist, and made, adjusted, and tested a submachine gun, without being busted or killing himself dozens of times over? How about the virginia tech guy a while back? How about those little columbine douchebags?

Bear in mind that I'm not arguing to make guns illegal, and really, I think you should be able to just go buy a submachinge gun if you want, though you should have to document what happens to it and maybe pay an extra tax on it, and be possibly legally responsible for things it's used for if it's stolen. Or just responsible if it's stolen, so you can't let all your insane friends steal it and leave the price where they found the gun.

You can tell that's a labor of love (and insanity) when he talks about bluing. The resistance is not going to blue anything, you hit it with engine paint and use grease and oil on internals.

How may 9-11 incidents have occurred in the past 10 years?
    NONE.

How many deaths by guns in the past 10 years?
    HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS!

    FACTS!
If you had one 9-11 incident every other month, it would NEVER reach the death toll from guns.

Sensible people look at one problem and try to find a solution.
Ignoramuses say there's just no solution because... "INSERT ANOTHER UNRELATED PROBLEM HERE".

It's just collateral damage YOU'RE willing to live with for YOU'RE ignorant lifestyle.

I'm for responsible gun ownership by responsible people who have earned that right. People who will keep the minimal amount of ammo they need, locked in separate secure locations as if they were gold bars. People who buy their ammo on the day they plan to practice. People who go hunting with only as much ammo as they need, 6 rounds is more than enough, hell, if you can't kill a deer in 2 shots then you shouldn't be hunting. This does not include automatic or semi-automatic weapons. There is absolutely no need for automatic guns outside military organisations PERIOD!

i just got to say... i live in the uk where guns are not easy to come by but.... if i really wanted one, i know i could get one... and i mean ANY type of gun, be it hand gun or assault rifle etc etc... yes, any kind of gun... gun laws are POINTLESS and just serve to make the vulnerable even more so!

Gun violence is way down in the UK since they enacted gun control.
After the introduction of gun laws, a significant downward trend was evident in total homicides, and the ratio of pre‐law to post‐law trends differed statistically from "no effect" (p = 0.01, table 33).). We conclude that the data do not support any homicide method substitution hypothesis.
In short: when gun homicides declined, all homicides declined. People did not simply commit them another way.

I did state in my post that one would need a machine shop , and know what they were doing . Even to cast a muzzel loader type fire arm you would need a foundry . If a small group wanted to make there own wepons it would some thing simple like a sten , tec 9 , or mac 10 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sten_gun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TEC-9 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC-10 Guys in jail have made crude guns to fire a .22 , but the guards have found them before there used . My point is make guns illegal to get and people with the skills to make them will , and make lots of money . If a crazzy person cant get a gun , they will use a knife , build a bomb, create a germ , ect. desert rat

3d printers: as I understand it, milling machines for dummies.

Why do you keep linking me to simple guns? Yeah, you can build an un-rifled .22 with nothing suspicious looking at the hardware store, for like 10 bucks.

    Who cares?

That doesn't mean that there should be no regulation on the safety of weapons.

It's the same defeatest "there will be guns everywhere, we shouldn't try to do anything". Well okay, don't try to take guns, I keep saying NOT to. That has nothing to do with not regulating guns.

Massive FAIL. The death rate from firearms in the UK is 0.25/100,000 vs. 10.2/100,000 in the US.

I'll say it again, it's specious to say that because there are no perfect answers we should just give up and do nothing.

What if the cops quit screwing around with drug busts and focused in on rape, guns, DWIs, burglary, etc.?

I feel a little weird even talking about this as families grieve in the midst of the horror that will be with them always. But I guess we really do need to talk about it.

Drug policy is a bizzare reversal of doing nothing, for the lack of a perfect answer.

There's a good answer, if not a perfect one, but there's a moralistic, puritan reason to not use it, so they do the exact opposite.

    Lillally

    Where from, who from?

Not only have I not even thought about getting a gun illegally I would not have a clue where to start and everyone I’ve asked has thought the same.

Why are you giving this thought and what type of people are you mixing with that you feel they can get their hands on guns so easily.

Why do you feel so vulnerable and afraid that you feel you need a gun?
