    Greetings all!

I'm a 22yr old college student who between school and finances has hit a rock bottom. I'm tired of my school career and I'm pretty much miserable in my life. Doing my best to keep drifting through it to keep those around me pleased but, I can't do it anymore. I am very open minded and just want to get away from life. I'm not the kind of person who wants a cookie cutter life and I'm ready to get out and explore. The only problem I have is how do I jump into it...?

The biggest thing I worry about is...

    1. My parents and family are very conservative and will show no support for this. I love them dearly and I'm really scared about losing my relationship with them.

    2. If I leave I will be carrying some debts with me. I would like to travel and work and still be able to take care of my financial past. Is this too big of a risk to take?

But overall I'm just kinda done with life as it is right now and I think I am ready to leave it behind. If there is anyone who can offer some advice, ideas, or even just if u think I'm crazy ill take the feedback.

this is one of the ways schools screw you

you've got debt to pay, and the debts pile up whether you've got work or not

it's just a tough spot to be in

you might want to talk to someone who knows more about school debt. the rate of interest is also relevant

so it sounds like you have a choice between getting screwed now by living a life you don't want to, or getting screwed latter by mounting debts

there may be cases where the debt is suspended (joining the peace corps?) so you might want to look into that

I hope that there is a way that you can work this out.

Well the big question is how much money or assets do you have to start your new life? If you can swing it I would suggest you invest in an older van in good shape. Pick up some camping gear and do an internet search on How to live in your van or something like that. Lots of people are doing it. Take a look at Bernie's Simple Stress Free lifestyle blog. It's a good one.

    Good luck

It is fairly easy to get deferments for your student loans. Just make sure someone is keeping an eye on that while you are on the road. All you have to do is Google it and you will get right to the application you can download. You can buy yourself quite a bit of time that way. Certainly enough time to go on an adventure. Safe journey.

keep in mind though, that interest typically still accumulates even during a deferment.

I'd say when things get like this, its time to cut yourself a break, take some chances, they usualy pay off in one way or another. I had a friend back in the day that felt exactly the way you do. He desided to backpack across country and ended up living in the mountains for a year with some others he had met along the way. After about a year he desided to return to home and finnish with school. Not to say this is whats for everyone, but Today he has a job making excellent pay and has a family. When no or limited funds are the issue, "Help Ex" web site is an excellent place for options meeting other travelers, places to work for room and board etc. Check it out, its the safest way to break free for a while and do some exploring. As for your debt, its something that comes and goes all our lives and should never be something to stress over...Like all things I say, it is what it is, take one day at a time and make it work for you no matter what. Before anything, it is my belief that the health of our spirt is best kept at the top of the list. There is an old saying.... go with your gut and let nothing stand in your path. You will be fine, and you'll come to see this. Cheers

PS: In my eyes, crazy is living in fear of doing what works for you and worrying about the expectations of others , no matter who or what. Break the chains of the word and crazy can be a powerful good thing. All the power to the right kind of madness.

Crazy , the other other white meat, crazy, its whats for dinner!
