I disagree. It's not hot air this time, just look at how Tennessee recently backed up rhetoric getting rid of comprehensive sex-ed.

The only thing that's kept Roe V. Wade alive, is the judicial court balance. And a lot of those guys are so old, I'm worried one of them might leave a seat vacancy.

This is what happened in India - Delhi last Sunday.

 

Imagine walking down the street and viewing every member of a particular gender that you see as a serious potential threat to your safety, all the time, every time, living under this assumption, 24/7.

 

The last thing I say to my kids whenever they're going somewhere,near or far,is "keep your eyes open". They know what it means and act accordingly. Except when my son scared the guy off when he pulled a gun on him. I wasn't happy about it, but maybe I would do the same thing. I guess we're not the kind of people to run away from trouble.

But if someone pulls a gun on a woman,the experts have said it's better to run and scream than to get in the car no matter what. Once you're in the car--it's over.

I don't understand the minds of rapists. I just don't. I can see how it could affect intimacy after such a trauma.

 

There are so many scholarly attempts to profile the mind of a rapist, I once read a paper on the subject which floated the notion that there are different types/categories of rapists, predominantly male, but can be differentiated based on preferred methods, victimology, motivations (which aren't obvious or even necessarily sexual motivations), and ability to socialize and blend in with others.

The categories mentioned were:

1. Disadvantaged

2. Specialized

3. Opportunistic

4. Partner

The scientists in this study also looked at data about mating behavior in primates, and compared that data to reported rapes in human society.

 

Its so unfortunate that that girl cannot lead a normal married life anymore. And the pathetic judicial system is still thinking of punishing those perverts.

 

So what are your plans for helping gang rape victoms?

Abortion is something they could have done under bush, if they'd wanted. But when they have the numbers, they find other things to talk about.

That's really good advice. I keep telling my friends not to be looking and listening to their ipods/iphones when they go for jogs and to stay in areas where there are lots of people.

 

If you want to help stop rape, then don't rape anyone. Tell all your friends not to rape anyone. For every person you tell to walk safe, and don't do x or y or you'll end up a victim, you tell someone else not to rape.

Stop laughing at rape jokes. If you hear one, call that person out.

If you want to help, then you have to help change the culture and attitude around rape. Not just give safety lessons to potential victims.

 

I'd say the terror (physically / mentally) they went thru would stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Sex with someone afterwards would be very hard to deal with & would take a lot of courage to deal with unless they have a very supportive partner.

 

It really does make having a relationship with a girl who has been through something like this hard.

In the case of the poor woman in India it means needing to have a part of your colon surgically removed. I'm not for the death penalty generally, but I'm tending to make an exception for cases like these.

 

I believe theres safety in numbers. High school kids cant get a permit to carry concealed.
nor do i believe young teenagers have the judgement or wisdom to know when to pull the gun.
Please we have enough guns in school. Besides most teenagers would be showing it off to there friends.
Im not against guns, or people shooting rapists.
If i had my way, we'd televise victims shooting rapists.

Correction: death. Though I stand by my earlier position that rapists should probably be put to death whether or not their actions bear lethal results

 

Save death penalty for those who murder. Castration would be a good penalty.
