Curious if anyone has experience dosing a serotonergic psychedelic whilst on an antipsychotic that does not act on serotonin, rather one which acts exclusively on dopamine and adrenaline receptors. The pharms I'm talking about include fluphenazine (trade name in US: Prolixin), trifluoperazine (previous trade name US: Stelazine), etc... not asking about quetiapine (Trade name in US: Seroquel), olanzapine (Zyprexa) or any of the newer ones. also not chlorpromazine (Thorazine) because that shit blocks everything. I'm sure the experience would be dulled, and the already uncomfortable weirdness from the anti-psychotic would likely be amplified, but I'm curious to hear experiences with this and how it went for people, if it was valuable and whatnot. NB!!!: not trying to start a discussion on whether those on an antipsychotic medications should be doing psychedelics... we all know everyone has their own way of living and their own story to tell... so please refrain from comments on this...
I took haloperidol on the end of a DPT trip if I recall correctly, purely out of curiousity rather than trying to negate a bad trip or anything. Haloperidol is an antipsychotic that is a dopamine antagonist. The interaction obviously wasn't anything to write home about as I don't even remember for sure if it was DPT I had just tripped on but I do remember perceiving some effects that I didn't get on haloperidol by itself. The physical effects most notably stood out to me, I remember breathing slow and heavy on it. From what I remember of the mental effects is it sort of calmed me down but I still felt pretty spacey, most of that was probably just the waning effects of the DPT but I seemed to perceive some sort of difference. I didn't find anything of value of mixing it while tripping and due to some of the increased physical effects I experienced, I would recommend against it.
