To me, idiots who get offended over idiocy are just as bad as the idiots they're getting offended by.

 

Does WBC picket funerals of its own members?

 

It's not really about people like us getting offended when we read about them on the news. It's about friends and family of the deceased trying to attend a funeral of someone they love when these dumb asses show up. how could that not be offensive?

They came to a military funeral in my town last year and thousands of people showed up to form a human wall to keep them away from the mourners.

I'm not from Ameica but it amazes me that in a country with so many guns and extremists some nutjob hasnt "made a scene" at a westboro protest.

Is there some kind of protection they recieve ?

It astonishes me how the media always tries to portrait America as very advanced and very cultured and very democratic, like something that the rest of the world should aspire to become like.
And Balkan is suppose to be a primitive shithole, lol.
Although, I have to say...even here, people are nostalgic about the old regime, as the older people always say it was at least much safer then. Less criminal, tougher and more strict laws, and so on. But fake freedom obviously works a lot better ;-)
So enjoy your society, your freedom of speech, your gun laws and your democracy. But in the safety of your house.

 

i find it so sad to see a group of people waste so much time, money, and effort on something so hateful.

 

Pretty hard to ignore scum,Rat. Like having dog shit on your shoes and walking in your house without scraping it off. I don't know how the grief stricken folks in Connecticut will handle this. One of the many things that the WBC does is teach there little kids to sing songs like "God hates the Jews ."The kids have no idea of what they are singing . If they had ever opened a Bible and read some of it they would have found that Jesus was a Jew . At one of there protests they are going to piss off the wrong people and some one will do the rite thing and take them out . The way to do it would be to get them if a fight and then it would be self defence . desert rat

as for my opinion, ive already stated it, but for those who didnt read the first few pages.. if someone wants to kill them or seriously injure them, maybe burn ther little piece of shit church down, i certainly wont mind, i might even sit back and crack open a beer while watching the news and grin a little

well, they did (or rather, the documentaries around them did) stir an interest in queer politics and activism in a few of my friends, who otherwise might not have taken an interest, so that i like, and i gather its not peculiar only to them.

but, much like you might admire the sense of community a natural catastrophe instills in people, its a by-product which in no way justifies their dickishness.

Totally agree with you, but on the other hand it would be hard to ignore them if it was your child's funeral that they were picketing. But definitely the media should stop giving them attention.

 

if there were an anti-christ, and it were to create some sort of support organization. the w.b.c. is precisely the kind of organization it would create.

the kind of attention they need, is to be recognized for the kind of hate group that they are and be officially classified as one.
