All you people who believe in life after death...

The soul is what persists. It never dies. Never. I have read countless books about people who have had near death experiences. It says this clearly in the bible also. It's the real you. It contains your personality. After people leave their bodies they say they can still see, touch, taste, smell, feel. In fact they say all of their senses are heightened. To learn more about this a good book to get is THE OTHER SIDE by Michael H. Brown. He has spoken to countless people who have had near death experiences and can explain best what the soul is and what happens to it after you die. It is not hard to read and only 165 pages. It is available at Amazon. MY DECENT INTO DEATH by Howard Storm, is also a good book. But read THE OTHER SIDE first. Because in that book the author mentions several different people who have gone to heaven, hell, and purgatory. MY DECENT INTO DEATH is excellent but it's about 1 man's experience. He was an atheist when he had his near death experience.

 

I'm not going to hit on this from any particular religious stand point outside of the good book of "here is what I have experienced"

In my experience the spirit/soul/essence of a person exists well after death. This however is dependent on the strength of will of the person before their death. Those with a strong will seem to linger on, make connections with us again, and maybe even watch over us.

My proof of this? As insubstantial as any other proof in metaphysics, personal experience with spirits. However that said for me such evidences remain more than sufficient.

 

I believe in living in the present....not sureabout living when I have passed.

 

You raise a good point Amy, no matter what our views on the after life are the only certainty is that we are alive today.

 

There is times in life where we catch a glimpse of eternity and that's what gives the belief the rest is philosophy. What ever it is that moves on we will just have to find out

When the body dies all that is left are small particles such as molecules. Yay for living forever. Too bad we are not aware of us living forever in different states of being.
There is no heaven, just as much as there isn't a father-figure up in the sky who listens to your, and a billion other, prayers.

That being said, we can not know anything for sure. That is why we invented 'belief', because people are too affraid to accept a reality where their life is meaningless.

 

I would argue that in this case, you did not die or come anywhere close to a near death experience... You were lucky... Good to know you all survived :thumbsup:

 

Reminds me of the film "What Dreams May Come". I love that film and the ideas in it... it explains a version of reality that I'm starting to believe or want to believe.

My fiancee and I believe we have a similar connection, she's back in the UK and yet we still feel like we slept in the same bed :sunny:
