Who would have ever thought that Bill Nye would have become all activist and junk?

I take it we're supposed to buy this product because of his celebrity endorsement. I happen to believe in evolution, but I thought his presentation was awful.

As for the "Ten Creationist Arguments" the bit on Scientist X was muddled. The Creationists are said to be using the fact that "a scientist" believes in God to make their point. The atheist rebuttal offered, if I can follow it, seems to go like this: Galileo and Copernicus believed in God, and they lived a long time ago when people were backward. Newton was a great scientist and believed in God, but he also believed in alchemy. Therefore, scientists who believe in God are discredited. Does that make any sense? What are we to conclude from these non sequitors? Christopher Hitchens didn't believe in God, but he was a smoker and believed in G.W. Bush and wasn't a scientist. So there! As for the survey of NAS members, as reported in that reliable source Nation, if 93% of those learned men don't believe in God, that surely settles it. But do they have scientific evidence, or are they making an assumption that scientific knowledge is the only truth? Does it matter that 40 % of 1000 scientists in a random sample conducted by the British science journal Nature are believers, or are we playing a game of one-upmanship in prestigious memberships. Then we could talk about some pretty respectable scientists like Paul Davies, Freeman Dyson, Bernard Haisch, John Polkinghorne, Sir Arthur Eddington, Francis Collins of the human genome project, evolutionary biologist Kenneth Miller, etc., who have written extensively about the basis for their belief, and consider the arguments and evidence they set forth. Do they claim to have scientific proof of God? Of course not. But they have evidence that they find sufficient to support a reasonable belief. Maybe the merits of their arguments should be considered instead of just tallying numbers.

    I like Bill Nye.

I'm atheist in my beliefs, but my woman does believe in god. It's something that doesn't get in the way of raising our son. I believe that nothing should be pushed on him and he can figure things out for himself when he gets older.

I'm glad he decided to get into activism. I think he's probably reaching the 18-25 year olds who watched his show as kids.

It gets weirder. Recently Nye and Pat Robertson agreed on the age of the earth: 4.5 billion years. The Apocalypse must be near!
