Violence

How do you feel about violence? Is there ever a time when it is okay to use violence? If so, please explain.

I personally don't like violence. It doesn't solve anything and just causes pain and suffering. I suppose the only time when it is okay to use violence is in an act of self defense. If you're being attacked, there really isn't much of anything else that you can do.

So what do you guys think?

 

I'm against it in pretty much all forms, except for self-defense.

What 'ok' is and who should decide what is good or bad?
Skipping the part that 'good' and 'bad' doesn't exists. It is just what humans invented to keep society together. Every person has different idea of good and bad.

Of course it solves things. One guy doesn't like another. Kills him. And doesn't have to worry about not liking him anymore.

What I don't like more than violence is hypocrisy. You probably wouldn't mind death penalty for serial killers/rapists.

Violence is as bad as any other social event. I am totally against it. For me, virtually no form of violence is acceptable for me whatever the circumstances maybe. I believe that if I do not want violence from others, then I should also not subject others to any other kind of violence.

 

I'm afraid I just love violence, which does not mean I like to see people (or animals for that matter) get victimized mind you. I think violence can has it's purpose if only to get rid of some frustrations for example. That being said, I'm not really violent myself. I just enjoy some creative violence in movies, certain kinds of music and yes, perhaps sometimes even observing it in real life.

Violence is only acceptable when it is a life or dead situation. Would I stand by and watch family, friends (or myself of course) be attacked and do nothing? I think not! It's easy to say violence is not acceptable and in an ideal world - fair enough, but let people be killed or injured while I looked on for the sake of a principal........not going to happen !

True ff. Just because we don't think about how we humans kill every day doesn't mean we don't.

What if someone takes out his anger on his poor innocent furniture Wouldn't that count as violence as well? Unacceptable? I guess to me only if it's someone elses furniture.

 

witnessing violence makes me physically ill. I don't even like to kill bugs.

but i would hurt someone if I needed to defend myself or someone I love.
