    uhm, royal?
one last thing.. just to show what your real nature is, and then we're done.

you remember not only the $300 i spent to get you there, but the $50 i paid you up front because you were flat broke, and you promised to help me move my bus?

I paid you $50 up front, PAID for the motel room to make sure you could have a shower, and how we agreed to be up early because the headlights were draining the battery, and the days were short? I woke us up at 7:30 in the morning, AS AGREED, after a perfectly good night of sleep, and because you were so slow in even getting up, I BROUGHT YOU FUCKING BREAKFAST RIGHT UP TO THE FUCKING ROOM.

I kept trying to get you to go & ALL YOU DID WAS WATCH TV.
You went so far as to watch a 50 year old sci-fi flick you had probably seen 7 or 8 times before, *refusing* to leave, until checkout, even though you had already been PAID because you assured me, that as my friend, i didn't have to worry about us getting it done. You will probably, as usual, make some fucking excuse for it.

At 1:00 pm, because there was not enough light left to guarantee a safe trip home, i canceled the transport.

All you had to do was drive my fucking car.

I was feeding you, providing you with an occasional small luxury (corn whiskey or perhaps beer.. do you remember the $30 goddamned GERBER MULTI TOOL???)

and all i asked for was for you to perform a service you were PAID for, as well as fed and given the comfort of a hot shower.

YOU DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE THE MOTEL ROOM.

Everything that comes out of your mouth is either an outright lie, a revisionist fabrication, a recitation of something you've read, a fantasy, or a self-aggrandizement.

i just wanted to put this one episode on the table, though, just so the people that listen to you can see..

you were helped, you fed (for quite some time), and in this instance you were PAID for a service you agreed to perform, DELIVERED to it, fed on the way *there*, put up for the evening, and then you REFUSED to do the job, because you wanted to watch the motel television.

you can spurt your excuses all you like.

this was your *typical* performance, and it was after this one critical point that i personally became fed up with your performance & presence.

you *belong* on the computer, royal, because you are unable to manage a relationship with reality any deeper than that.

there's other crap i could go into, but what's the point?

i could say that dismantling your shit is easier than the proverbial fish in a barrel, but you know what?

there's no fucking barrel & there's no water.

there just some dead fish on the ground with flies picking at them.

i paid you $50 fucking dollars to take care of something really important to me, after helping to feed you for over *2* fucking months..

*that's* why i get upset when you talk about how fucked up sam or the farm or anyone there is.

so.. do what you want, say what you want, but the main thing that worries me is that you are going to pull the same thing on other people, or continue to paint yourself as highly experienced & wise, and cause someone to depend on you.

whatever fabrication you have to say, go ahead & say it.
whatever excuse you want to make, make it.
whatever blame you want to shift to someone else, go ahead & shift it.

50 bucks up front & a promie to a friend that had been helping you for over 2 fucking months.

& you watched tv in fucking stead.

    we are fucking done.

In this world there are givers and takers and some who are learning to balance it out..

Give with love, never give with expectation ....
it helps avoid these disappointments :2thumbsup:
Often i have found who i give to may never return it back, although I will receive in a totally different way..

you know, balance is a luxury...

not being critical here, just objective..

giving is a luxury, also, if it is altruistic in nature, rather than reciprocal.
the thing is that even altruism has a reciprocal end, when it is offered up as a means to help another being to continue through existence.

there is aid rendered to, say, a butterfly trapped in an old spiderweb, or perhaps trapped under wet grass after a rainstorm, in which case such a creature will do all it *can* do, which *is* continue.

there are the easy things, too, like, oh.. say.. 2 or 3 gallons of gas, or a 50 mile detour to render aid to a traveler or any number of things we go out of our way to do simply for the sake of simple kindness & the expression of friendship towards all we are *able* to be friends with..

Then there is altruism rendered as an act of hope, that what is done will not end simply with what is done, but that the recipient of whatever act or resource is given propagates the altruism, also.. as when, say, we deliver volunteers to a righteous protest, or make a donation to a foodbank, or a cause intending to help others..

then there is offering substantial aid in the belief that that aid will be used to further the welfare of the recipient for the ability to further their own freedom and independence...
an altruism which is actually *is* reciprocal in nature, because it is conditional, and made with an underlying assumption of trust...
it is *not*, however, contractual, because it is offered up in the faith of both honor and honesty when it is given to those whom ask for it,and therefore remains altruistic.

This last, however, is the most expensive, especially when the need is great, and we throw our own welfare into risk for the welfare of another, hoping for no more, really, than that the work which is done benefits the recipient, that they may continue in freedom and independence, after completion.

there are many other forms, but the essential thing is that each of these is work, no matter how easy, and that because it is altruistic **even balance is not a requisite before action**.

the action is made in hope, not in expectation, and pre-judgment is avoided, because of the simplicity implicit in hope..

if someone give no reason to believe they lie, then believe them.
if someone gives no reason to fear them, then trust them.

yeah, you may be wrong, and you may wind up burned, stranded, ripped off or worse, but the forces that drive beauty and meaning will still be with you, and as long as you are able to commune with them on what is fundamentally the simple level of hope & trust, then everything *remains* in balance, because your spirit will not have died.

there is certainly wisdom in prudence..
no.. you don't just hand money to known cons, you don't just feed known slugs, and you certainly don't offer your residence to demonstrated leeches.
you don't even try to depend on people with good intentions, but whom are demonstrably unable to carry them out..

    you simply can't.

i may have a problem in that i begin from a position of believing what people say, without vetting them as well as i should before involvement..
i will certainly grant that, but the problem with a lot of people whom need help is that they will not admit to *why* they are in need of it, and that means that they will speak of themselves and their conditions inaccurately, and yet hold great sincerity.

i have a hard time seeing inaccuracy beyond sincerity, because i believe there is substantial synonymity between honesty and sincerity.

i am not interested in fault, and perhaps, in all truth, there *is* substantial inbalance there.

i could contextualize this in relation to the farm, ut suffice it to say that balance or not, the farm is actually a type of battle front.

it isn't a big, scary, thunder & shrapnel type of scenario, but it *is* where someone has put their life on the line for what they believe, and right or wrong in their technique, they are performing the work required to actualize a theoretical idea that nearly everyone here expresses as the highest attainment of human existence:
to produce an environment where individuals are as free as possible, *after* they take care of the obligations required for personal welfare.

    that's simply factual.

that is, ideally, what the farm is.
that is why all this risk has been taken & all this work has been done.

it may be that if the experiment fails it is because of judgment, because one thing to note here, which may be the greatest reason of all that there has been as much difficulty as there is, but which really shows the true nature of what it has been about, essentially comes down to this:

***the farm has never turned anyone away***

yes, it has **kicked out** a few whom have really & truly screwed up to the extent that they stayed longer than their own good time made welcome, or refused to take care of themselves, etc..

& there have certainly been those whom have left for their own reasons, and there have been some whom have left because they need what the farm can't offer (money, hot water on demand, full indoor plumbing, etc.), and there have been those whom have split because they just don't like the people here, and more power to them & to their finding what they want most dearly in life, because the desire for happiness is no fault..

but the farm has never turned anyone down, prevented anyone from leaving or **even demanded payment for anything other than utilities or consumables used in common**... this place may be fucking hell, but i will tell you this:

it is a fuck of a lot like shangri la, when it comes down to the hopes & ideas wish to prevail..

    it's fucking *hard* though.
    goddamned fucking hard.

and that may be the fucking balance.

people can come here with ***zero***, if they like...
hell.. people usually come here with **less** than zero, and personally?

that is probably where the imbalance is..

when people have nothing, all they have are words & stories...

& we have tended to believe...

    soo...

    yeah.. our own damn fault.

but when people come here with nowhere else to go.. when we have to *pay*, when we are fucking poor ourselves, to give them someplace to come to, or when they are at the point where all they can really do is hope for a place to maybe just camp..

what gets people pissed off is not that the farm is fucked up, but that they don't have enough to do what they want to do, because all there is here, is the farm, and unless they are going to show enough initiative to do what he farm needs, then they are going to be pissed off, because even though no one is turned away, they are all told before they come they they are going to need to work... little electricity & very few luxuries..

that is all we have to give.
if you speak of "balance" beyond that, well.. you may be speaking of something far less important...

maybe what you really mean is "comfort"?

that's a nice thing, for sure, but..

it isn't the most important thing by a long shot...

fuck comfort, actually, because we would rather have 5 friends huddling around a wood stove at 10 degrees below freezing, that we busted our asses filling, than to be comfortable and locked into 9-5 jobs..

soo.. i'm not really sure what you mean by "balance"...

it's a nice word & a nice concept, but it needs detail if it is going to be anything other than a veiled criticism which carries no instruction, such as a "tsk, tsk, it's their own fault.. isn't it ashame they don't know what *we* know.. how true, how true..".. so please, either instruct or shut the fuck up.

    peace,

    your brother john

How many times are you going to try getting me to change my Signature? :D

I think thats frankly the toughest thing I go through, finding those who have the look and make the noise of wanting something else from this life and then let it all boil down to the simple sake of who brings the most dollars left over from their previous engagement with Babylon. Like it somehow means their complacency with the way it was entitles them to carry over the same old dull witted greenback driven mode of existence.

I mean to a degree we have to, Barter at some level is helpful at least between Communities though People who think their ability to provide funding somehow warrants that THEY are the ones to be listened to shows how truly warped "our thinking" is if we go along with such nonsense when it's clear they haven't much of a grasp as to the real practical issues at hand in terms of whats needed to be done.

Knowledge is Priceless, Dollars are only toilet paper waiting for the fall of the Federal reserve.

Just in general as a rule, If "you" think your Dollars will show you how to make your own dirt, generate power, grow crops abundantly, build things, then keep heeding their words and keep your "trust in God".

But if "you" want to truly build something, know what the fuck you're doing and if you dont know what the fuck you're doing get the fuck out of the way of those who do or help them out in the process in taking care of the business at hand,,,

Hello, my name is Tyler, I am 27 years old. For years, I have wanted to travel the country. I now have the opportunity to do just that. My dog (Shayla) and I will be leaving sometime near the first of the month, I hope. I think my main goal on this journey will be to learn to live off the land and to survive with the least amount of money possible. I would like to find places to stay that will allow me to work for the things we will need, food, shelter (or just a place for my tent), and any other items that may be necessary for the trip. I really have no idea what I am doing, I very well may be going to fall flat on my face, but I think that is really living. If you are reading this that means I have found your place online and am interested in stopping thru long enough to work for what we may need at the time. So in conclusion, if your looking for able-bodied people to stay for a short time and help out with things around the land in trade for food, a spot to sleep, knowledge, or whatever else you see fit, please write me back.
    Thank you,
    Tyler & Shalyla

I have a MtF friend, and her pregnant wife seeking a place for an undisclosed allotment of time, who seek to park either a tent of yurt on someone's land. Seems the pregnant wife's health problems are making it VERY hard for them to pay rent, and they just aren't willing to sell their beloved animals to help supplement their situation.

To whomever it may concern. My name is Andy and i was at the farm with Royal and John. I bear witness on behalf of my kind and generous friend, John. He speaks truth, a kinder truth than others might, for he is a good man. Royal(Fritz) is a braggart and a sloth. Not one project that he set himself upon did he complete. Neither did he perform the necessary chores expected of all adults. In fact i testify that he spent 90% of his time either staring at a computer screen or sitting in the grass nearby watching others toil for the benefit of all. The other 10% was spent jacking off in the shed, literally. To know this man is to know iniquity and bitterness. Of men i have known, he is among the least as far as substance is concerned. I warn any who may wish to commune with him in any manner that they will be sorely disappointed in the results of such. Royal is a fountain of lies and deceit.

my fiance and i are looking into communes and even though i am 'young'(26) i still love the idea of communal living and i have a 5 year old who loves people and is so cool. right now we live in california and have a car but no house or anything, were looking for a place that will accept dogs(wiener dog) and kids, also i hate to put it out there but my fiance is over 60 but in excellent health but some places i have been looking at won't accept him in at his age? wow... were not religious and total hippies at heart, we do smoke but not ciggaretts. we need to find a 420 friendly place. my attributes are

-served in the military for 5 years and was stationed in katrina for relief in 2005
-know how to sew and knit
-worked for a coop child care center
    -experienced in the medical field

Call it Sloth if you will but if I see a bunch of folks not having a good grasp to begin with on what they're doing yet refuse to try different approaches while trying things even the Neighbors had warned them against I'm simply not going to keep an interest, that said it was probably closer to 25% in the Shed.

Lies and Deceit? Fuck, I give what I get. Be straight with me and I'm straight with you.
I mean "you" discuss plans, "you" agree on it then wham "we're doin' something else" and that something else is clearly a Communal feel good Circle-Jerk like tilling a big bed of nearly raw clay a few days before heavy rains are expected, humping a couple tons of pears to a cellar to "protect them" yet they sit and rot, lugging water to save the trouble of finding 10' of garden hose and a valve so we could use the inside waterline finally, flush the toilet and other fun shit like that. Pruning all those trees which were producing, could have been juiced at the CSA but with everyone on foodstamps or funny checks, THAT was the time to prune and ensure a small crop... Even if I had helped, it would have still been just another form of masturbation.

I may not mind wasting my time but I really hate it when others try to.

    bark bark, woof woof!!!

how much more money do you want us to give you???

& btw, royal, as you keep shedding you blame.. remember that nice generator that YOU did not have the $450 to replace??

you'll probably go revisionist on this, too, but YOU were the one who nearly pushed me away from MY machine and told me you knew how prep & start it..

but YOU only put in HALF the required oil...

why did i trust your opinion??

for the same reason i trusted you enough to send you cash, which you spent on something *else*, rather than doing what you would say, & making us have to spend *more* to get you to the farm...

    fuck, man..

wasn't it your *mom* who had to send you money???

    you're almost 40, now?

& *how* much money did you send to your kid while we supported you??

not only the money we spent *getting* you there, but on your food & alchohol..
remember, royal *WE KICKED YOU OUT*

    you didn't leave.

don't paint it like you escaped or we did bad shit to you, because we didn't get fed up with you until the end...

if you don't have the balls to leave someplace you don't like, because you're being fed, then admit what it is...

    leeching.

    leeching, leeching, leeching...

at the very end, with your fucking charcoal processing, i actually stood up for you, indicated you should be given a chance with it & then went *with* you to tractor supply & *bought* (more$) the shit you said you would need.

after more than a goddamned fucking week you had cut a steel pin in one or 2 places & i *think* you may have cut a pole for your proposed "roller".

after more than a fucking week.

THAT is when we said "yeah, he needs to go".

    i'm done.

    you fried my generator.

i heard the thing rattling & thought it may have been break-in noise (which puzzled the fuck out of me), and after it kept rattling, after using it longer than i should have, because I TRUSTED YOUR OPINION i checked the oil, thinking "jesus.. royal was *so* sure.. he couldn't actually been so screwed as to not have checked the manual, could he??"

YOU ALMOST PHYSICALLY PUSHED ME AWAY FROM ***MY*** BRAND NEW *****DIESEL***** GENERATOR, TELLING ME I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING WHEN I WAS PUTTING THE OIL IN!!!

& it's my fault, because, as the man said **I TRUSTED YOU***...

    ha ha ha....

    my fucking fault.

i checked it & it had been running at half capacity.

    thank you, mr royal.

you were so goddamned pridefull & arrogant that you didn't even check the manual when working with *SOMEONE ELSE'S* $450 piece of equipment.

& then you fucking blame *US*...

these kinds of things are what make the negative surreality of existence..

yes.. sam crossed jumpers to the starter battery incorrectly & burned the control panel.
yes, the fix i did on the melted parts only lasted a couple of weeks.

& yes, you fucked it up first by not putting in the right amount of oil...

    but you know what?

i didn't bitch at *you* (until this moment) or *sam*, because it's just a fucking generator & means *nothing* in the face of trying to exist in friendship & respect.

i valued *you* more than asking you "you fucking asshole!!! why didn't you read the fucking manual!!!!??? i had it in my hands when you told me to get away from *my* fucking generator!!! why did you think i was doing such a poor job, just because i wanted to be sure the oil was right?!!??"

but all you do, royal, is blame others.

    all you do is revise.

maybe it's petty for me to belabor stuff, but.. hey..

i'm a fucked up asshole, too...

    such is life.

I put in most of the oil needed, thats what you do, once it's primed with oil you top it off after an initial run John. Make a note of it.
And damn right I'll revise (correct) bullshit when I see it.

Fuck man is right, you paid no *extra*. I made the final arrangements to get there short of the drive from the train to the funny farm when Sam drove in to pick me up.

Gosh, Mom bought me a Bus ticket,,,
Speaking of money from Mom, how many more thousands have you "borrowed" from yours while you resolve those legal issues with your former employer to keep your ship afloat?
    Happy 60something,,,

Eh, I was leaving long before you knew.
And I'm not painting it like I escaped or anything bad was done to me, I'm simply painting it like I showed up at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
I mean I tried helping, making useful suggestions for improvements around the place and suggestions for how and what we farmed (Productive methods vs existing models, you know, carbon, leaves, compost, manure etc / fish pond uphill etc...). But any sort of viable or useful input from Me or AJ or Chuck was summarily shot down at meetings by people who didn't know a Spade from a Hoe.
Hell, even a simple sign with a few handfuls of feed glued next to a silhouette of the appropriate animal it was intend to feed was deemed "too troublesome" even when it seemed like nobody could figure out what to feed to which,,,

After these suggestions were shot down again and again I saw what sort of crap was going on there and wanted no part of it but after having been sold an entirely different package by the "Travel Agents" involved I frankly didn't mind "breaking even" by taking my time and trying to find a more amiable situation, a job or whatever given the fact I had been misled in the first place about the overall operations at the foodstamp farm and tooling and resources available to us. Important Shit when you want to get things done ya' know and I dont care to have my time wasted due to Idiocracy.

Maybe that makes me a "Not nice" person somehow? Not allowing myself to be taken advantage of or used like a fucking farm tool and following after the "Massah Slaveowner" doing her bidding regardless of how futile, counter-productive, counter-intuitive or pointless the tasks were? I'll meditate on it and get back to you someday.

Not my fuck up (See: Priming dry motor @ top)
Fried wiring not fried motor. Was working fine till "someone" crossed the wires.

The one with the blown motor was Hers and that blew up due to lack of oil the day I got there after an untold number of hours of service without inspection, not my doing,,,

Anyway, have fun with the endless / inefficient busy work you farm out there.

    :2thumbsup:
