me and a friend have this idea of going round England staying the night in all the most haunted locations. camping and whatnot. neither of us believe in ghosts, but are more than willing to buy into a well-spun yarn for a disquieting night, if its sold well enough. its mainly the mythology of it that interests us.

are there any ghosts or supernatural occurrences near where you live? urban legends of spectral ghouls that bump in the night? interesting locations with horrifying histories which locals speak of in hushed tones? have you ever maybe thought that you saw one yourself?

love a good ghost story, me.

In my part of the world , south of Phoenix in Tombstone is the bird cage theater , it is said to be haunted http://www.arizona-leisure.com/bird-cage-theatre.html http://www.cityoftombstone.com/ http://www.city-data.com/city/Tombstone-Arizona.html There are places all over the state said to have some kind of ghost . In Phoenix at 51 av and Indain school rd . it was said there was a young lady crying that had been killed in a car wreck . desert rat

Apparently we have headless horsemen, a jilted serving girl, drowned witches and a Boots.

yeah, i have been asking about, but i tend to steer clear of the more "ghost-huntery" areas, just because that aspect doesn't really hold any interest for me, i'm into the folkore/storytelling aspect of ghost stories and urban legends, i suppose

Never seen one myself but my Mam claims to of when she was young. An old lady at the end of her bed who looked right at her and smiled, by the time she woke her sister up the lady had vanished. Can't say I'm a believer but do dig a good yarn too.

There's a local radio dj up here in the north east who's well into all this stuff. It's always canny tuning into Alan Robson's Night Owls programme on Halloween. He takes a handful of listeners to a 'haunted' place every year and sits them in the dark with a microphone. They always seem to get pretty spooked!

Many of his grizzly tales can be found on youtube, well worth a listen for a scary story or two :)

    This idea seems somewhat impractical.

^Yes, why don't you just go to one haunted place and then say you did this? It's easier, if nothing else. Or you could just not do it and say that you did it, which is even easier still.

Or you could actually do it, then tell people you didn't. That may be the best of all possible worlds.
