    Here's a conspiracy for you.

Suppose McAfee or whatever virus protector you have pay people to come up with viruses. Viruses exist they're a pain in the ass if you get em, but really who maliciously just breaks code and spends all that time unless they were getting paid.

    Think about it.

There are some malware programs that say you have a virus, when you really don't, and it can only be removed by buying their program. People fall for this stunt too.

I don't use any virus protection or spyware, just XP's basic firewall... never had a problem

Remember the old trick for a remote gas station was the attendant would check your tires by kicking them, but had a secret razor blade mounted in the toe of his shoe so that a few miles down the road, your slashed tire would blow out and you'd have to buy a new one from the station.

That's the model for virus protection software...think about it ;)

Bundled bloated corporate antivirus software slows your computer and itself is a virus. Try to get something like bundled Norton antivirus off of your computer. It's more difficult to get rid of than the most troublesome of viruses.

I do know of certain webpages and malware that will pretend your computer has a virus just so it can say you have to pay for a certain program to remove the virus. They are scams and are not to be trusted.

Besides, there are plenty of free anti-virus software alternatives.

For anyone who knows computers writing a virus is easy. And of course anyone working in any sort of IT field will know computers. But there are so many being written by hackers, you don't really need to bother with making some to help business.

It’s far more insidious than you think. during manufacturing malware is deliberately embedded into the firmware making detection virtually impossible

    LOL, you conspiracy nuts.

    But you aren't completely off-your-rocker.
The government routinely confiscates hardware components manufactured in China and other Asian locales that have had malware embedded into it, but no other hardware manufactures have done it.

Plus N. Korea and China have teams of hackers who only job is to break into American business servers. Doesn't matter what type of business, they hit them all.
