Palestine Recognition

Discussion in 'Latest Hip News Stories' started by Deleted member 157313, Nov 30, 2012.

  1. The UN has voted overwhelmingly to recognize Palestine as the world's 194th state!!! It’s a huge victory for the Palestinian people, for peace, for the community, and people across the world are joining with massive crowds in Palestine to celebrate.

The Palestinian people's journey to freedom is far from over, but this is a powerful step. The American and Israeli governments have done everything in their power to stop this but thankfully world opinion was on the side of the Palestinian cause! Marvelous news!

About bloody time. Of course this won't end the conflict but at least will give Palestine legal standing.

    fantastic news.

re: Britain abstaining.. well they gave Palestine to the Israeli's so they are at least half to blame on this issue and should have voted.

re: Australia abstaining.. weak pro monarch government leadership that cannot make up its own mind.

Well done Palestine.. Soon you will be free.

Yeah, that really is a bastard act.

... and then they wonder why they have such a bad name and Hamas etc want to attack them.

Even the US govt had something to say about it.

    Pricks.

138 countries voted for the recognition.

The U.S. and Canada were the only major countries to vote no on the U.N. recognition. The rest were a few small island countries of the Pacific Ocean region, Israel, the Czech Republic, and Panama.

This gives one a good idea of the asymmetries in the power relations between the two parties.

At the end of the day the PA will probably be left with the role of a Ghetto policeman if its lucky.

It doesn't matter. Palestine got a title. We could call obama a president, but fall guy for mob rule would be more fitting.

Evidently real estate is more important than peace to the Israelis. And the end of Israel is more important to the Palestinians than peace. Very human-like. No light at the end of the tunnel,as it were.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em. Why hasn't it been settled then? Israelis keep building-Palestinians keep firing rockets. Although there seems to be a lull right now as far as the rockets go.
