There's a reason the show and Jim Parsons (Sheldon) keep winning Emmys. It's certainly one of the funniest shows on broadcast TV.
Slap a literalist today. The little Jewish guy is funny. Wouldn't it be awful to have someone comment on your every word--all the time?
I've never seen it, we don't have cable. People I know are always talking about it, though, so I would probably like it.
The reason this show is one of the funniest is because, the excessive use of a laughtrack.... really, there is a laughtrack played after every goddamn word, I mean why cant shows just be funny on their own!?!?! somethime, when I watch that fucking boobtube I just wanna... But reLATING to YoUr post, Sheldons charactor has asburgers, and if youve ever lived with someone with asburgers, you may not find sheldons personality funny. oh yeah, its spelt aspergers..
It has its moments but nothing ever seems to happen. Only so much I can take before I get bored of the same lounge room.
LoL. Asburgers reminds me of the South Park episode. My SO works with autistic kids. He finds it funny. Even the Aspy kids find it funny. One of the kids really relates to Sheldon, especially the 'this is where I sit' kind of stuff. But it does get frustrating after long exposures. I can't image what families go through. It takes more patience than I have. Sadly the worst off kid he deals with has turned 18 and has had all his support cut off and the family(poor with 'get the crane' fat mom) will be kicking him out if he doesn't get a job. My SO is trying to get the kid into college. It's a mess. But I digress... Sheldon is funny. But Amy is hands down my fav.
With or without a laugh track, the show's funny. There has never been any mention nor discussion of Sheldon having Aspergers syndrome, so that is your assumption about the character. (I have every episode, don't know if thats a good thing or bad thing LOL) Sheldon's not crazy, his mother had him tested. As funny as the scripts themselves are, Chuck Lorre's "vanity cards" at the end of every episode are priceless. At times hilarious, others a scathing indictment of his industry, so much so that a few seasons in he was threatened about the content of the vanity cards. Here is an example from season 3 last week it simply said " I got nothing." These are at the last few seconds before the show goes black and you have to pause it to read them. :2thumbsup:
it's not a show that i ever watch on my own, but it's probably the best show my mom watches regularly so i have seen several episodes when visiting her. penny is hot. you may not find sheldon's personality funny no matter what the circumstances of your life are. but if you prefer a pity party over having a sense of humor about your life's difficulties, you're probably miserable a lot of the time.
it's pretty rare that I watch any tv except football and a little pbs just seems like everything on tv is crap if I'm really missing out, please let me know oh, I think I have seen the girl on the show, and she looks kinda hot
I forgot all about that episode! And yeah your extly right about the patience thing, my younger brother has aspergers, and I love him to death, but he can be too much to handle sometimes. But on the plus side his aspergers kind of makes him unique in my opinion, and I hope he never loses that quality. The show is alright as far as Tv goes, but its all just recycled material, gets very old very fast.
Bit 'off track',but I've seen some episodes of a show called 'How I met your mother'. Ok,nothing to raise the roof over [tho' I do think Alyson Hannigan is cute] but I was told the fella who plays Barney is actually gay. I have to say, hats off to his acting skills if that's true, because he plays the womaniser part really well and with great humour. Ok-as you were, chaps.
i can't stand Sheldon's voice. and i really don't like laugh tracks in shows either. i never watched big bang theory long enough to be annoyed by the laugh track though. sheldon's voice does it much sooner
